FASTer Way to Fat Loss Update August 14, 2019 | Hi Friends! A FASTer Way to Fat Loss update has absolutely been the most requested post over here as of late and I have to admit I haven’t written it because I was over here enjoying Summer. I’ve been unapologetically staying up late with a glass of rose in hand catching up with friends, indulging in ice cream on hot Summer nights with my girls and enjoying a margarita or two on our favorite patios. Summer is when I let go of the schedule and have a little fun and each year I truly enjoy it to the fullest. That being said, when August rolls around my white jeans are typically a smidge too tight and I don’t feel quite as confident in a 2 piece swimsuit as I did in June—and you know what?? That’s OK! Even though I don’t physically feel 100%, I never look at my body with guilt or shame, yet I’m going in to August excited to get back on a schedule and back to the FWTFL lifestyle! If you’re new here, I’ve been doing FASTer Way to Fat Loss since October 2018 and absolutely love the lifestyle. My body responded SO well to it and I was able to over come a long time plateau and really tone up. See my initial post about it HERE and my results HERE. Our next round starts MONDAY AUGUST 19 and I would love for you to join us! Throughout the Summer, I did stay on my same intermittent fasting schedule, which leaves me an 8 hour eating window (typically from noon-8pm), but during that window I did not count macros or carb cycle. I also mostly ran for workouts this Summer, mainly because that’s what cleared my mind mentally and what my body was craving. In saying that, I’m learning that running really does NADA to contour and tone my body—it’s really just my form of therapy and I should start calling it what it is. I am so excited to get back into weight and HITT training and tone back up. Let me also say that this program is for EVERYone! She will be checking in with you guys daily and is there for any questions or concerns! Sign up HERE. Reader FAQ: Q: Are there any exceptions with the Fasting part? How strict are you with that? A: I fast every day. I mean, of course there are exceptions, but if I stick to ANYthing during the day I at least try to hold my fast. I find if I end up eating breakfast I find that the next day’s fast ends up being harder, so it’s really not worth it. The consistent feedback in our group is that the FASTing part has been WAYYYY easier than expected. So many people feel that fasting is the most daunting part of the program and I’m here to tell you it’s NOT HARD. I promise. I have two kids and manage two businesses. Tess has FOUR kids, works full time AND is a FWTFL coach. If we can do it—anyone can! Q: Talk to me about coffee! A: You can absolutely drink coffee or tea during your morning fast! I typically order an Americano with a splash of coconut milk, but also don’t mind it black. If at home, I’ll do a regular cup of coffee with a little bit of Nut Pods creamers. There are tons of mixed opinions, but the FW program states that you can ingest up to 50 calories and still maintain your fast. Q: When’s the next round? A: Monday, August 19th! Sign up HERE. Q: Even when you’re not doing the 6 week program, have you given up breakfast? A: Yes, I cannot see myself going back to breakfast. Unless we are on vacation or I simply cannot resist a breakfast out on the weekends, I’m fasting. When I do eat breakfast I immediately regret it because I almost feel my body slowing down and shifting into digestion mode. On the weekends, I’ll try to schedule a workout while the girls eat breakfast so that I’m not tempted. Q: Can vegetarians do this? A: YES! We have quite a few vegetarians in our group! You can eat everything that you normally do, but we will just rebalance how and when you eat them. You’ll likely have to bump up your proteins and can do that through fish, eggs, beans, cottage cheese, etc. Q: Is it super hard to from poor eating to so many restrictions? A: Yes. I won’t sugar coat it for you, because I simply don’t have a magic formula. Eating healthy foods is the ONLY way to achieve a long term, healthy lifestyle. If this is your goal, I would encourage you to dive right in with a mindset of “progress over perfection.” If you are committed, you will learn slowly but surely how to make this a lifestyle. You don’t have to completely give up food you love, but you will learn how to incorporate them in where they fit. A: The initial cost for an 8 week round is $199 (including meal plan, workouts and coaching). After that, you can begin a membership program with continued workouts and coaching benefits for $99/mo. Q: Can you do your own workouts and just do the nutrition piece or is it imperative to do theirs? A: We always suggest starting by doing the FASTer Way to Fat Loss workouts for at least your first round, although it’s not required. Their workouts are completely tailored to your macro breakdown for that day and targets specific parts of the body on specific days based on macro intake. If you are committed to another plan, consult Tess and she will give you suggested days to still partake. Q: Can I do this while pregnant? A: The FASTer Way to Fat Loss® is easily adapted for those that are pregnant or nursing. Pregnant Clients:The food cycle is altered for pregnant clients by not participating in low macro days, we modify low carb days by increasing your net carbs for those days. Most women have no problem with the intermittent fasting but it is extremely important for you to get your calories in each day so lengthening your eating window is also an option! General rule of thumb for exercise during pregnancy is not to start anything completely new but if you have been exercising prior to pregnancy, it is fine! The further along you are, you can do modified versions of all strength training workouts. **Always consult your doctor!** Q: Can I do this while Nursing? A: There are a few modifications to the food cycle for ladies who are postpartum, but overall the program is completely doable! Those with an established milk supply can safely participate in low macro days, and we also bump up carbs on low carb day a bit. The most important thing is to monitor your supply! Q: Do you guys provide meal plans? A: YES and Tess also provides you with her favorite recipes and grocery hauls as often as she can (as an added bonus!). In our group, we also encourage our clients to share their favorite recipes and snack ideas if they wish and keep everything in an easily accessible photo album! Q: Seriously, no alcohol? A: I think that it’s important to REALLY limit alcohol intake during the program, but that’s not to say that you can’t indulge in a cocktail or glass of wine here or there. If you’re going out to dinner, try to pre-plan a glass or two of wine in MFP and see how it shakes out in your total. This is more of a lifestyle goal, so you’ll learn how you can start working in a few drinks here and there, while still reaching your overall goals. Q: How do you “shut down” wanting to eat early in the morning and still function? A: It’s a mind over matter thing. Truly, you have to focus on water intake, treat yourself to a cup of coffee, and then get busy. You’ll be more productive, have a clearer mind and your body will be able to fully recover from digestion from the day before and dig into your fat supplies for fuel. Q: Did you initially feel like you were gaining weight from more food and less cardio? A: Never. I think that’s were intermittent fasting comes in because it eliminates bloat and helps to work through fat supplies. I’ve never felt like I was bloated or gaining weight once….and that’s coming from a cardio JUNKIE! Q: I would love to try FWTFL, but am scared to give up dairy. A: I alwaysssss suggest going at least 4 weeks no dairy (that’s a personal suggestion). It’s incredible to see the changes, and I promise it’s possible! It affects bloat, your skin, your mood—dairy is THE WORST. I’ve been limiting dairy intake for 5 years now and will never go back. I eat it probably 3-4 x a week in moderation each time and now know my limits with it, but I promise going dairy free is super freeing. If you ABSOLUTELY need to squeeze in dairy on the program, simply work it in where it fits in your macros—but eating in excess won’t yield the results you want! Sign up HERE. March 30th vs June 30th When my sister told me she was starting a new diet called the FASTer Way to Fat Loss to lose the “baby weight” I decided to look into it. I pretty much closed the computer once I read that you had to fast for 16 hours and eat for 8. I thought she had lost her damn mind. There was no way I could not eat breakfast every morning at 6:00 and wait until 12:00 to eat my first meal. I contemplated for about a week and then decided to jump on board. I even suckered a very good friend into doing it with me too. I finally feel like I have found a realistic, healthy lifestyle to follow. I’m not depriving myself of anything. I’m not having to drink shakes or take pills to curb my appetite. This plan has taught me to stop looking at the scale. (As women our weight fluctuates way too much!) I go by inches and how my clothes feel. In my first round of FWTFL, I lost 21.5 inches overall. While the beginning price may be a little steep for someone, I can tell you it’s the best investment I’ve ever made. I’m about to begin my 2nd round. I love the fact that I get a coach to guide me and access to some really great workouts. This program has been such a great jump start to a better lifestyle for me. I was nervous about starting the program because I didn’t know how I would feel about fasting and I certainly didn’t know how to count macros, or even what a macro was. It took about a week to catch on and then I was smooth sailing from there. I’ve learned how to eat clean healthy food and I never felt deprived. I enjoyed wine, peanut butter and dark chocolate with no guilt. I probably consumed more food on this program then any other “diet” I have done in the past. You hear about the Keto diet which works, but who wants to give up carbs forever! However, with the Faster Way Program, carbs are allowed which makes the program much easier to sustain for the long haul! At least that is my plan!! The exercise program, although definitely challenging, was not too long each day and was easily adjusted for those of us who were not in shape! There were several days that I was not perfect and blew it during my sessions, but I found it easy to get back to it the next day. Tess was always available to advise and explain!!
