New Skincare + A GIVEAWAY! April 22, 2014 | It’s never really been a secret that I have struggled to keep my skin clear. Ever since high school I have had breakouts pretty consistently, and it all comes back to the fact that I truly have hormonal acne. Woof. As un-glamorous as it sounds, it’s true. I’ve been to countless dermatologists and have been put on countless medications both topical and oral…all of which are pretty darn scary to me and contain some pretty intense chemicals. The final straw was when I was once again prescribed a medicine in which I had to take a pregnancy test each month to confirm that I was not pregnant because these medicines could cause grotesque birth defects. Um, no thanks to that situation or putting those things in my body. In the end, I can try my best to maintain a healthy diet and a good skin care/cleansing regimen, so when Lindsay asked if I wanted to try out Rodan + Fields I was very open to the idea. In the past, ProActive has worked for me, so I was happy to know that Rodan + Fields was created by the same doctors. Lindsay sent me their online Solution Tool and I was able to input any concerns about my skin and it made suggestions on which products would work best for my situation. We decided on the UNBLEMISH treatment regimen, with a side cocktail of the REDEFINE eye cream to make me look less like a tired, worn out mom and more like a well-rested twenty nine year old. I began using the products right away and am very very pleased with the results. The face wash is creamy and goes on very smooth, it’s not harsh at all and instead leaves my skin feeling moisturized. The dual acne treatment was gentle enough for my entire face (minus the eye area), yet cleared up any potential spots before they surfaced. And as much as I love the UNBLEMISH, the real star of the show was the REDEFINE eye cream. Oh my, this stuff is legit. Let me start by saying, dark circles and fine lines under the eyes have never been an issue for me. Insert LK a year ago and we have an issue. It was really starting to bug me…I upgraded my concealer and I even went to Sephora to get a sample of the $100+ bottle of Caudalie eye elixir….because at that point I would have tried anything/paid any amount of money to help remedy this. Literally, after one use of the REDEFINE I could tell a difference! The circles were virtually gone and the fine lines were no longer. I actually wake up some mornings and when I look in the mirror, I am genuinely surprised at how not tired I look. Ladies, you really should treat yourself to this stuff, it is worth every penny of it’s $60 price tag and will last 4-6 months using twice a day. I had originally planned to tell you only about the products, but you have to meet Lindsay….she’s just too sweet and her story is too good! Lindsay and I met in Dallas years ago through her cousin Alison (hi, Ali!) and have kept in touch (mainly via Facebook/Instagram) ever since. She has two absolutely adorably handsome little boys and I just love seeing what they are getting into! Here’s her story: “I started working with Rodan + Fields a little over a year ago. Before I had kids I was a second grade teacher, but after having our first born Jack, we decided that I would stay home. I had actually been looking casually for something part time to help my family financially and after chatting with a friend of mine started working with Rodan + Fields, I was immediately interested. She explained that there were no home parties, no inventory, extremely part time while earning a full time paycheck…plus having the best skin…I knew I had to do it!! I talked to my husband about it and with his support, I signed up the next day and am so thankful I did. This is something I can do anywhere and work around my life as a full time mom, thus not having to give up these precious moments with my young boys. It’s perfect because you can work in the car, waiting on the boys at school, during naps, while they play, at the park etc…the flexibility is key and is even better than I expected. I’ve grown a wonderful team of inspiring and fun people who I’ve watched grow their businesses and achieve their goals. Over the past year my paychecks have continued to grow and I’m now making more than I did in while working full time. And, to be honest, the paychecks are wonderful, but what has truly been the best is the relationships I’ve built with people from all over! I also suffered from melasma pre and post pregnancy. I tried everything possible to erase my dark spots. Rodan + Fields REVERSE is the only skin care product that completely erased my dark spots…truly amazing. Everything is risk free, as you have 60 days to love the products and achieve the best skin of your life…or you get your money back, no questions asked.” Isn’t her story inspiring?? Um, did you catch the part where she’s making as much as she did working full time?? WOW! What an amazing feeling to be able to still be a fully engaged SAHM, but also to be helping out financially…in a big way. You go girl! Lindsay is looking to continue growing her team, so if you are looking for something part time, or just want to change up your skin care routine for the better, email her asap: lindsaylancaster@gmail.com **UPDATE: She’s also giving away a $100 Visa gift card to anyone who joins her team, so the time has never been better! She’s also been super generous and is giving away the REDEFINE eye cream that I was raving about earlier!!! We are making this super easy, so you really should take advantage and enter…you will love this stuff! StephNav says April 23, 2014 at 1:48 PM I used to have hormonal acne too – giving up dairy and caffeine (I was a coffee addict) cleared it up completely in a week. All the hormones in dairy (whether added or naturally occurring) can mess with your hormone levels. I, like you, went to countless dermatologists, doctors and they all prescribed medication – so I did my own extensive research (it helps I work at an Ivy league institution surrounded by scientists) and I no longer have issues. I miss dairy, but I allow myself to have it every once in awhile. Just a suggestion – everyone is different 🙂
charmingincharlotte@gmail.com says April 23, 2014 at 2:34 PM Steph- Great input…thanks so much! My resolution this year was to create a better diet for my family and I and I would say I'm about 60% there. I gave up carbonation and am down to one cup of coffee a day. I don't drink milk, but would say that I get about one serving/day of dairy from cheese. I also buy all organic/hormone free meats. I do def still slip up with some processed stuff…but I agree with you I think that my change in diet has noticeably helped as well….and I FEEL SOOO much better! I love the affirmation that it helped you, because it makes me want to push harder to cut it all out!!! Thanks girlie 🙂
StephNav says April 23, 2014 at 8:08 PM It's really hard giving up dairy (I'm Italian!) – but I am always on the look out for better skin care for my face & have heard that Rodan & Fields is great for dark spots (which I still have) so I've been meaning to try. Now I just might have to. Great post! Thanks again 🙂
Aaryn Rubin says April 23, 2014 at 8:50 PM I'm using the unblemish line also-but added in a moisturizer from the soothe line. I love it too! I think it has really helped, however I'm finding that I do still break out around the time my birth control decides it's period time.
