Our Easter Weekend at The Biltmore Estate! March 29, 2016 | Hi Friends! Before I share our Easter weekend with you, I wanted to thank you for all of the support and kind and encouraging comments on yesterday’s post. I’m so glad that you guys found it enlightening and hopefully you have more of an idea now of how to navigate the change and still keep up with all of your friends and favorite Instagrammers. Now, if you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat you know that we took off on a mini road trip last minute and ended up in Asheville to celebrate Easter. We woke up early Saturday morning to dye Easter eggs with Landry and, even though we were having fun, I could feel myself getting so sad that we weren’t spending such a precious Holiday with our families. I didn’t want to dwell on it and began looking up hotels so that we could make a quick getaway and create a few Easter memories of our own! Within an hour, everything was booked and the dog was on her way to the boarder. We hit the road by 11 am and made it to Asheville by 2. We have been to Asheville a couple of times now and, to me, the Biltmore Estate never gets old. We normally stay at the Grand Bohemian in Biltmore Village, which I adore, but since it was booked up so last minute and we decided to stay on the actual grounds of the estate in one of their new hotels. The Village Hotel on Biltmore was a nice, yet simple hotel and the clean lines and rustic aesthetic were very refreshing. For all of you Fixer Upper fans, Jo would definitely approve (aka there was shiplap abounding)! Here’s how we made the most of our 24 hours in Asheville, in an absurd amount of photos… Road trip style… Turn on your JavaScript to view content Bag | Top | Denim | Sandals | Sunnies It’s pure magic. Learn more about the house + history HERE. We really enjoyed Biltmore Village, there were lots of little shops, a restaurant, the rotating exhibit and the winery all around a beautiful green lawn. On Saturday night there was a band playing on the lawn and Landry thought that it was the coolest thing…she put her stellar dance moves on display for the world to see and was having a blast. I wore these new lace up gladiators all weekend long and they are hands down the most comfortable sandals I own. The suede is soft and the structure and soles are really comfortable and supportive, even for the amount of walking that we did… Sandals This might be one of my favorite photos of these two in recent memory. Not staged, just fun, and the perfect golden hour backlight shining through those blonde curls. He picked her up and turned her upside down to shake the sillies out, because she was getting honory and it ended up being hysterical to her… To the right of Biltmore Village is where the small animal farm is located. You can walk in and out and see the animals and even pet them. There were chickens, goats, and a mini donkey there to greet us and all were so sweet. They actually use all of the goats milk for cheese to serve around the Biltmore, so you know it’s super fresh. Landry had to take a photo on the tractor to show her Granddaddy… Since there was an hour wait for a table at dinner, we walked over to the winery and did a quick wine tasting of some wines that are made on the property, which were wonderful. They also had grape juice an animal crackers on hand for LK, which was a big hit. We did a casual dinner at Cedrics in the Village, which was yummy. We all ended up with fish and chips, which is our favorite 🙂 After dinner, we snuck over to the creamery for a treat…they had ice cream and I had the famous bread pudding…yum! Loving these bracelet stacks! Another look at this outfit, because everyone seemed to like this on Instagram. I can’t tell you how much I love this lightweight tunic! She played with her new treats while we got ready for mass. We ended up heading to a darling Catholic Church in Biltmore Villlage (across the street from the actual estate entrance) and thankfully got there early because there wasn’t a seat left in there by the time mass started. The church was very old and really beautiful, but we were basically sitting on our neighbors. Landry made it about halfway through and we ended up alternating in and out with her. OY! As you can see here, Landry decided that ripping the hem out of the front of her dress right before church sounded like a fun idea 🙂 After mass, we headed back onto the Biltmore property and decided to spend the day at the house. Now through May they have Biltmore Blooms going on, which is just a spectacular display of all of their Spring blooms in all of their glory. See the million photos below… White Denim + Buffalo Check Top (this is a MUST HAVE!) There were 3 Easter Egg hunts in front of the home and we got there early to register this little lady for the 3 o’clock hunt. She was SO excited… Floral Romper | Converse Get it girl… This is a big step friends, standing next to the Easter bunny ALONE! She was so proud of herself 😉 After the egg hunt, we walked around the gardens and it was pure magic. The Biltmore is so enchanted… I mean is this even real… On the far side of the gardens is the green house and woah nelly it’s almost hard to believe how incredible it is. Bigger than most of the biggest homes out there, the lush greens growing inside will simply take your breath away. After the greenhouse, we decided to head home to Charlotte. We weren’t even off of the property before Landry crashed and Dan and I got to enjoy a fun karaoke car ride back singing the best country songs from the 90’s! I hope that your Easter was filled with joy and love in celebration of the Resurrection!
