The Friday Edit February 19, 2016 | Hola Friends! Happy Friday! I’m so late getting this Friday Edit together because I totally unplugged for my Birthday yesterday and enjoyed some QT with my family. If you saw Instagram, I told everyone that Landry had a grand plan to take me “shopping” for my birthday…sounded great to me! We get there and I quickly find out that her too smart for her own good 3 year old mind got me to the mall thinking it was all about MY birthday and suddenly just wanted to go into the Disney store and buy a “Belle Princess Dress.” Oy Vey. I mean trying to teach a toddler about money and what it takes to actually BUY something is like brushing your teeth with oreos…a futile battle. I was finally able to divert her attention with the promise of going into the lipstick store (aka Sephora) and trying on some new gloss…which ended up all over BOTH of our faces, mind you. Dan took me out to one of my favorite resturants in Charlotte, The Fig Tree, and I had the yummiest scallops to end my 31st Birthday. What a year! I cannot wait (albeit I’m quite nervous, because I’ve sent some pretty lofty prayer requests up to the Big Guy) to see what 31 has in store for me and my little family! This week on zee blog… Top Post: Our 24 trip recap to Blowing Rock, NC I love that you guys loved this post and am excited to plan a few more quick getaways that I can also recap on the blog. A few of you have emailed me with more specific questions, so if you have any don’t hesitate! Hat | Sweater | Faux Fur Stole | Boots | Bag | Leopard Tassel From Tuesday’s Fab Finds Under $50 post you guys really loved these tassel sandals with a chic block heel that are only $43! Lots of you also jumped on the $26 scalloped swim top before it sells out…smart ladies you are! If you missed the full roundup, you can shop the graphic below. A few of you had some quality concerns, just given the price, but I promise that I only post stuff that I truly approve of the quality of. This sweater is one of those pieces…I was shocked by the quality for a $18 piece! In the Peplum Post, I also rounded up my favorite peplum tops from around the web, and you guys really liked THIS one as well. So much so, that I went in and bought it for myself…and did a fit review for you guys as well! It’s the perfect transitional top to layer under a cardigan, but can easily be worn through the summer as well! Looks a little fancy with the peplum hem, but feels like you’re wearing a t-shirt…amen! Cardigan | Peplum The top Instagram was actually this one above of the peplums, but the Nordstrom Clearance Sale recap was a close second when I posted it last Friday and he good news is that the sale is still going on! Shop that Instagram here: JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content. This $28 dress continues to be what everyone is loving (duh, buy now wear NOW + Later), but this $16 2-1 top is a close second (I mean, $16??!). Here are a few Public Service Announcements from Instagram: Hobby Lobby has the most bonkers hardware right now. Lucite, agate, gold, you name it! All around $10 each. I was literally drooling. Helpful tip! A lot of you have emailed me saying your store was sold out of the good ones or only had 1-2 of each left…GOOD NEWS…Hobby Lobby offers “rain checks” and they will special order the quantity you need for in store pick up AND honor the current price. Win Win!! Next, I know you guys remember THESE chukka booties that I LIVED in this winter? So many of you have taken my advice (most comfortable shoe you own, I promise) and bought them and I cannot tell you how excited I am to tell you that they came out with a Spring version! Whoo Hoo! They come in 4 colors (blush pink, ice blue, ivory and taupe) and have the most darling laser cut outs on each side. Perfect for boyfriend jeans and a t-shirt this Spring or even distressed denim shorts into Summer. I’m still doing the happy dance. Shop them HERE. My mom, sister and I all wearing our Fall version… Here’s a peek of the new Spring version! I chose the blush pink! Link Love: I made the BEST and easiest meal from Trader Joes this week and while I don’t have a link, I wanted to share the recipe so that you can pick up the ingredients while you’re there. (1) bag of TJ tater tots (2) cans of TJ turkey chili (1) bag of TJ Jack cheese Spray an 11×13 dish and fill with tater tots. Crisp them in the oven on 400 for about 12-15 minutes or until warm. Take out of oven and pour chili on top. Cover with Jack cheese (I left some off on a portion for myself) and put back into the oven for 15 minutes or until cheese is fully melted. It was the most yummy comfort food meal and cost about $7 to make. A real winner, busy mamas! Speaking of no dairy, most of you know that I don’t eat dairy (for about a year now) once I identified that it was the cause of most of my skin issues (acne, sensitive skin, redness, etc). Overall, I don’t miss it, but I do have a few weaknesses and one of them is THIS CAKE that my friend Amy is so famous for. She snuck one over to my house when we were out to dinner and ya’ll I can’t resist it. I’m totally blaming her for my jacked up face next week, but OMG I love her all at the same time. If you’ve never made or eaten this cake, then you honestly have not lived. Make one. Celebrate something. Anything. Just make this cake. Speaking of Amy, she also sent over THIS light fixture this week and I nearly died and the price. Scheming of somewhere to put it! Under $140, y’all! Treated myself to THESE for my Birthday…they are sold out in so many sizes in store, but online got re-stocked today! So great if you are a working gal OR if you like to snazz up your skinny jeans. Cannot WAIT to get them in. Speaking of Birthday…can someone buy me this unreal coffee table? Puh-leaseeee! Steals + Deals The Nordstrom Clearance is a pretty great (see above), but here are a few other picks as well! This darling open cardigan that’s great for Spring layers (and comes in 3 colors) is on sale for $38! This lightweight poncho is an extra 60% off of the sale price, making it $30! The perfect shoe for a Spring Wedding is marked down to under $60 in 3 great neutral colors! Trust me, this is a great denim jacket. On sale for $70 (from $138) This clutch (one of my favs) is on MAJOR sale for under $100 in lots of great neutral colors that you’ll get tons of wear out of! Hope that you guys enjoyed this Friday Edit, have a wonderful weekend! Cheers!
Erin, Attention To Darling Blog says February 19, 2016 at 10:57 PM I love everything in this post! Happy belated birthday!!! This is a great roundup for a Friday and that story of your 3 year old seriously cracked me up. My LO is only 10 months old, but this is already something I could see her doing in the future.
