The New Peplum Top February 17, 2016 | Today I’m talking about the new peplum top and showing you guys how I paired my inexpensive peplum sweater with distressed skinnies and wedge booties for a laid back look. So about 4 years ago peplum was all.of.the.rage. I remember the time frame very specifically because I was newly pregnant and well, the tight fitting silhouette around the rib cage just wasn’t cutting it and it was actually a trend that I had to skip out on. Even though the silhouette never fully went away, it definitely faded. It’s now back and has a fun new (and relaxed spin), which I love! Instead of the really fitted bodice and flared hem at the waist, the peplum is now a little more relaxed…not as fitted through the top and a more draped fit throughout. I think that it’s such a flattering top to wear and one that’s also really easy to throw on and go, both dressed up or down. Here’s how I styled this adorable peplum sweater (y’all it’s $18!)… Turn on your JavaScript to view content Shop the Post: Peplum Sweater $17.99 Distressed Denim Wedge Booties I just discovered this semi-local (they are in Mt. Pleasant, SC) shoe maker and am super obsessed with these booties. They have a hidden 2” heel, which gives legs just the perfect extra length without looking like you have heels on. Although these booties don’t appear on the site, give them a call and they may be able to locate a pair for you!
