The One Room Challenge: Week One October 2, 2014 | So I’ve decided to jump on board the crazy train and join in with the One Room Challenge again this go round. ::If you are new here, see my first challenge HERE and the second HERE:: I went back and fourth this time because there are already so many blog projects going on and I really just didn’t want the stress of it all…because pulling a room together in 6 weeks ain’t no joke, people. Initially, I wanted to revamp our kitchen, because out of all of the rooms in our house it’s the one that could use the biggest facelift and really payoff for us when we decide to sell. But the reality is, I just couldn’t take on painting cabinets, installing all new fixtures and plumbing, and wasn’t excited about how stressful that would be. I decided to go forward with the Challenge, but am going to re-work our half bath instead. I’ve been talking about it and planning the design for it for what feels like forever, so nows the time to do it, right?! I feel like powder rooms are meant to be dramatic, and we all know that’s right up my alley! It’s located right under our stairwell, so it doesn’t get any natural light, adding to it’s moodiness. I imaged pattern on the walls, brass fixtures, monograms and a funky piece of art. I want guests to be throughly entertained while going to the loo! The obstacles we face are existing wallpaper that has been painted over, funky lines due to it being underneath the staircase, and overall just working in such a small space. I’ve shared these plans before, but if you are new here, this is the mood board: Sources: Gold Bamboo Mirror: Pier 1 (ON MAJOR SALE!!! Under $100!) Scalloped Sconces: Lamps Plus (Also on major sale!) Removable Wallpaper: Wallternatives (English Garden) Storage Baskets: Serena & Lily Bath Rug: Serena & Lily Monogrammed Towels: Bellalino And here’s the Before: Pretty much a blank slate, right? So here goes, cheers to 6 weeks and a total makeover! Make sure to check out the other linking participants, because as you know there’s some major talent linking up.

Decor To Adore says October 2, 2014 at 10:25 PM What a lovely half bath this is going to be. The wallpaper is fantastic! I cannot wait to see your progress and how it all unfolds. I too am participating in the One Room Challenge. My challenges? I just moved to a completely new state (Texas) last week and therefore have no idea where to source things other than Wal Mart and Home Depot. 🙂 I am currently battling strep throat and just want to lay around and eat soup as opposed to painting a 30 year old polyurethaned oak coffered ceiling that has never before seen paint. The accompanying powder room rivals the worst gas station stall ever. But a bonus is that the previous owners installed a wine glass and bottle holder on the ceiling of the bathroom. I kid you not. Come take a peek.
charmingincharlotte@gmail.com says October 3, 2014 at 1:39 AM Oh no you poor thing! I would be a total fish out of water. You definitely have your work cut out for you, but your plans are amazing and I love the meaning behind them all! Where in Texas are you?
