Introducing You to Trunk Club April 16, 2018 | Good Monday Morning, friends! Coming to you with an exciting (and very different!) post. I’m so so excited to introduce you to Trunk Club (visit their site HERE) and tell you that I’m going to be working with them over the course of this entire year to really get you familiar with the brand, what they are all about and how I think that they can work for you. I’d been hearing a lot of buzz about Trunk Club, so when they reached out, I was more than excited to learn more about what they offer. Turns out, it’s really easy and pretty fun! Hear me out… Trunk Club is a Nordstrom company based in Chicago and they offer virtual styling services for men and women. They pride themselves in offering personal shopping services via trained stylists who curate tailored boxes (Trunks) that arrive on your doorstep. I went through the entire process from start to finish and here’s what my takeaways are… After filling out a short survey to determine my personality and style preferences, I was assigned a personal (virtual) stylist. I was able to message that person directly via the Trunk Club site and communication was very easy from the get go. My stylists name is Bianca and she was amazing to work with. Bianca asked me some additional questions about my day to day life and style and what really inspires me. Admittedly, I’m all over the place with style, but I tried to narrow my answers down in hopes of finding some great everyday pieces that I may have overlooked. I’ll be honest, I kept my expectations low. I shop daily for the blog and to sort of provide the same virtual services to you guys, so I kept thinking what would she see online that I hadn’t already seen? What silhouettes would she choose that I hadn’t already considered? Turns out, she nailed it. She sent over an initial Trunk (containing 10 products) for my review and after a few small edits (which you are able to do through the instant messenger on the site) I gave her the green light to ship it to me. I decided to keep a few pieces in there that weren’t necessarily my style in an effort to use this service to branch out of my comfort zone and I’m really glad that I did. The Trunk arrived on my door within the week and I was so excited to dig in! It was like a box full or surprises that I wasn’t expecting and was almost like a little gift of style! I tried everything on and was shocked that 8/11 pieces fit perfectly even though the sizes were all different. Turns out, she used her knowledge of how things were running and adjusted the sizing for me to ensure a great fit. That’s a huge win, in my opinion. Here are some of my favorite pieces, including what I kept and what I returned! I was most excited about this shirt! I had actually been eyeing it for *months* and honestly don’t know why I hadn’t pulled the trigger. Its by one of my favorite brands, feels like butter and is SO easy to wear. Funny enough, if I had ordered it for myself, I would have chosen a different color, but in the end this red was really the most flattering for my skin and hair colors and it took an outsider like Bianca to force that on me. I ADORE this top and it’s happily hanging in my closet now! This little embroidered top is another one that I had been eyeing for so long. The price was always amazing, but something about the fit on the model threw me off and thanks to Trunk Club I was able to try it on at home and determine that it was actually really cute! The embroidery and ruffle sleeves are the perfect details and this one is also now in my closet and is patiently waiting for Cinco de Mayo! While I love the brand that makes this button up, these colors are a little dark for me during the Summer months. I tried it on to ensure the fit (which was perfect, slim and not baggy) and asked her to send something similar closer to the Fall. She totally understood and was open to the feedback, which made things really easy! This top is by another brand that I’ve been loving and is one that I would have never tried on my own. Something about the simplicity of it never caught my eye, but once I tried it on I realized that the simple silhouette is the whole beauty of it! The mock neck, the on trend dusty lavender color and the PRICE are just the icing on the cake. I am so excited to wear this with my high waisted jeans for a simple, chic, mom style look. So within the box she sent three pair of denim shorts and I cringed a little. Denim shorts are probably the hardest thing to get a good fit for and I was (pleasantly!) SHOCKED when 2/3 of them actually fit!!! This high waisted pair was by far my favorite and there was never even a thought of sending them back. They are higher on the waist, have a modest inseam and fit like a dream. I ended up sizing up to a 28 (per Bianca’s suggestion) in them for the *perfect* fit. White shorts that fit?! Could it be?! I loved these and the inseam and fit were amazing for a mama! Don’t you love them paired with the punchy red top? I kept my regular size 27 in these. This was the one item that I was SO sad to send back. This dress fit like an absolute dream, but was simply too short. The side knot is beyond flattering and the lightweight feel of it made it so easy to dress up or down. Here was the entire trunk so that you can see what else was in it: I kept 5/11 of the pieces which is a pretty great percentage for my first time! I returned the cardigan and long sleeve top because it’s simply too hot in Texas from here on out, the silver belt because I really only wear gold, the white denim jacket and the paper bag denim shorts were too big and the dress was so cute but just too short. Overall the process was really really easy and it could definitely make a fashionable lifestyle for busy men and women effortless to achieve. You can even schedule your Trunks on your term…monthly, quarterly or based on an occasion. Need workwear? Have a special event coming up and no idea what to wear? No worries! Just tell your stylist and let them do all of the hard work for you! Sign up HERE and let me know what you think. Like I mentioned, this is a year long partnership, so you will be seeing lots more coming up! xo Recent Posts That You May Also Like: How to Style Wide Leg Crops 3 Ways Affordable and Functional Spring Tops
Amber says April 16, 2018 at 9:47 AM Can you tell me why brand the dress is? I thought it looked great on you and I am very conservative when it comes to length, I can see that with a platform or heel it would be to short but a flat, I think would look okay in length.
Ingrid says April 16, 2018 at 8:13 PM Thanks Mallory, I just signed up and my first trunk is being prepared. Love Nordstroms and a lot of my clothes come from there so it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with. I’ve always wanted to take advantage of their personal shopping services but was too lazy to make an appointment in the store, now I don’t have to!
Pat says April 16, 2018 at 10:45 PM What an awesome service! I will definitely check it out. I think it’s perfect for someone like me that rarely tries on clothes in a store. ???? I would prefer to take them home and, if they don’t work out, just return them. I don’t know how you manage to do the try on sessions! ???? Thanks again for sharing & I love your selections.
Stacy says April 16, 2018 at 10:51 PM I would love to know the brand of the shorts and the dress. I feel like I’ve seen the dress on Nords website but can’t find it now. I though it would be too short too but I think the length looks great on you. It’s all about your comfort level tho. Great post!
