Similar Camo Skinnies $54 | Go-to Tunic $27 (in multiple colors) | Puma Sneakers Soapbox: Vogue opened up a big ole can of worms when their snotty editors openly bashed bloggers in a vogue.com article this week…did you guys read it? You can see it HERE. The article has had me so flustered all week. So many friends have sent to to me asking if I’ve seen it and, while I want to write an entire post about my ill feelings towards these comments, I’ll leave a short blurb here. Dear Vogue- Your lackluster commentary towards bloggers as a whole was by far the most tacky thing that you’ve ever written…and after chasing around the Kardashians for years like rabid dogs…that’s saying a lot. I’m in no league even light years close to the bloggers that you were referring to, but I felt that this article was a blow to the entire community. A community of women (and men!) who have figured out how to reach REAL women, in a REAL way and in REAL time and are paving a way and creating an industry in and of itself. We are women with full time jobs, we are full time moms and some of us are even full time bloggers…and an institution like Vogue (who has long claimed to hero working women around the globe) openly bashed what we do and belittled us so much to stoop as low to ask if we were even registered to vote. Your answer to that is, YES I CERTAINLY AM and, in fact, I would love to take your editors on in a political debate. Let’s start with how our failed trade agreements negatively affect the Fashion industry, and go! We all know that the industry is changing. Women don’t need magazines anymore to know how to dress. Women relate to women, not some starved model in head to toe Haute Couture that looks more like a Halloween costume than anything else. Vogue is no longer the “Fashion Bible” that it once was, and you know that. You know it and you feel threatened. This article was such a pathetic display of your feelings and the “better than” attitude that it was written in is why the Fashion industry was given such a bad name in the first place. I think that you should either adapt to the times or move over, because things are changing and we are moving forward. And, after all, every fashionable woman knows that confidence is by far the best accessory you can adorn yourself with…one of which you can’t buy with your prized editorial salaries. xo- M ..whew, soapbox closed. Link Love: Love this Pumpkin Idea! I might try to create something similar this weekend! Wish me luck! Source I didn’t have a good pair of flat booties to throw on for everyday wear…in fact, I thought that flat booties made me look a little squatty…until these. They are SO cute on and the pointed toe and slight heel actually elongates the leg. I’M OBSESSED and will be styling them for you on zee blog in just a few weeks! Booties (they come in 7 colors!) If you want a special treat, and tons of Fall inspo….start from the beginning of Lindsay’s Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours: Fall Edition! I love this little off the shoulder sweater for Fall…the added lace detail is darling, but also gives it some extra length to be able to wear it with leather or just plain black leggings and ankle booties for a date night. Shop it HERE. Ladies, these chairs came back in stock!!!! I posted this insane deal on Instagram a few weeks back and they completely sold out right away and now they have a few back in stock. It really is unheard of to find this chippendale style chair for under $300/each and the ones I found are $150!! I have 4 now that will be part of a new project reveal and I LOVE THEM. Perfect for a breakfast nook or dining table and they are a classic style that you won’t quickly tire of. HURRY and shop them HERE. Another item that sold out SO fast was these blush pink bubble earrings and they are also back in stock! Such a steal for $48! Shop them HERE. Sales and Steals: This coat is so striking. I love the shawl collar and thick tie at the waist…it’s so timeless and elegant and would really serve as an all around great coat for work or play. It comes in 5 beautiful neutrals and is on sale for $229 (from $348)! Shop it HERE. This pretty A Line dress was a hit via the Sales and Steals email this week. I love the classic cut, front pockets, and versatility. It comes in a ton of colors and is the best dress for work or Sundays. It’s on sale for $88 (from $148)! Shop it HERE. Ladies, this is such a great deal on gold flatware! I’ve been dying for some and I just might have to pull the trigger on this set….remember Thanksgiving is in less than 8 weeks! The full 20 pc set is on sale for $119 (that’s cheaper than the Target set)! Shop it HERE. I wore this dress last night to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Neiman Marcus being in Charlotte. The guest of honor was the ever stylish Joe Zee…he was seriously SO warm and kind! I got tons of questions about the dress on Instastories and lots of compliments on it at the event…best part?? It’s $20!!!! It will probably sell out before I can write a full post on it, so I wanted to share it here so that you guys could snag it while all sizes are still in stock! Shop it here for $19.99! Also, the dress was clearly the statement piece, but these gold heels are AMAZING! They are under $60 and a great glam heel to have in your line up! Shop them HERE. I hope that you guys enjoyed The Friday Edit and have a wonderful weekend!!! I actually have a post planned for SUNDAY, so tune in! xoxo
Kellyann Rohr says September 30, 2016 at 11:45 AM I don’t plan on reading the Vogue article but I’ll take your word for it, I’m sure it was tacky. The funny thing is I’ve NEVER enjoyed Vogue and my best friend gives me hers every month and I recycle it, just no interest in it whatsoever. In fact magazines in general are no longer my jam I’d much rather read a blog. Real women, real style, real world!
Style Your Senses says October 1, 2016 at 3:32 PM Kellyann, I’m right there with you girl! I used my September issue as a doorstop while redoing a room this month LOL. Real is totally the way to go…fashion should be attainable for all women and they should have lots of options, much easier with so many amazing real time bloggers out there…just like YOU! You (and your blog!) are just darling! Rock on, lady! xoxo
Erin says September 30, 2016 at 10:09 PM I can’t believe I wasted time reading the Vogue article. I am against bullying and it made my skin crawl. I’ve only recently come across your blog but I find it incredibly informative as well as inspiring. As a mom to 3 young kids I was feeling down on myself and my looks/style, but your blog has picked me up out of my funk. Keep up the good work!
Style Your Senses says October 1, 2016 at 3:24 PM WOW- you completely made my day Erin! That’s exactly my goal in writing this everyday! Thanks for following along, so happy to have you here 🙂
Penny says October 1, 2016 at 11:13 AM Love your response to the Vogue commentary on bloggers! You hit the nail on the head Mallory! They are threatened by real women keeping it real in today’s world. Love that women are finding creative ways to share their style/genius from home all while nurturing their families. Instead of bashing these creative individuals Vogue should be celebrating them on the front cover as BHG! Seriously, the K’s? You couldn’t give me that magazine! Thank you for so generously sharing your talent with us!
Style Your Senses says October 1, 2016 at 3:25 PM Exactly, BHG is totally embracing bloggers and event letting us co-author the magazine in a way…so many blogger features! They are completely understanding of the changing times, and it’s so refreshing! Thank you so so much for following along and for your kind words! xoxo
Maureen says October 1, 2016 at 7:23 PM I thought your comments were thoughtful and well written. Vogue is so obviously threatened by all the passionate bloggers like yourself that rather than make room and learn they diminished and tore down an entire group of men and women. Shame on them for claiming to represent women when in actuality they tear them down as soon as they find an opening. Please don’t take this to heart keep doing what you do because you will ALWAYS have an audience, your sincerity and passion are palpable.
Style Your Senses says October 3, 2016 at 11:27 AM Maureen- Thank you so so much, the last sentence of that comment almost made me cry. I always hope that my passion for it all shows up on the other side of the screen! Thanks again for taking the time to read it all…means a lot! xoxo
