The Beauty of Base Layers November 6, 2017 | Today I’m tackling a topic that I’m hoping can make putting super easy outfits together easier for all of you guys! To me, mastering Fall and Winter layering starts with easy base layers. I consider base layers a top and a bottom that are flattering, comfortable, easy to layer on top of, but still can be worn alone. My hands down go-to base layers are THIS TUNIC and THESE LEGGINGS. They are comfy, easy to wear, great to layer on top of and wash and wear wonderfully! You guys know that I have THIS TUNIC in almost every color, but I really find myself wearing this ivory shade the most. I wanted to show you guys how to make it functional in your closet through the Fall and Winter using it as a base layer with leggings. What I love about it is that it’s long enough to cover the tush, but still light weight enough to pair with sweaters and also has great movement when wearing it. Not to mention, it’s $27…so that’s amazing. Here’s how the two pieces look alone. Definitely an outfit that I would wear by itself regardless and great for transitional months. Tunic ($27) / Layering Tank ($24) / Leggings / Nearly Identical Mules (Exact ones are currently sold out) Here’s how it looks with a poncho thrown on top and a felt floppy hat. Easy layers for warmth, texture and interest! This particular poncho is one that I’ve been dying to wear since July when I scored it during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s a reversible leopard print, so you can choose between a darker or lighter look and it’s just such a great neutral piece (with lots of interest) that pairs back to all of your Winter boots. A great item to throw over base layers and under $50! This is my second year wearing this moto jacket and I might love it even more this season because I know how much I’m able to wear it! It’s a steal at under $100 and I’ve found that this cognac color really shows up well during the winter and pairs back to tans and blacks, which I wear a ton of! I also have this jacket in black, which would also work over these base layers and look great with a fun black bootie for a night on the town. As the weather continues to cool, swap out the mules for a neutral bootie like THESE Other great base layer combinations: Tunic Tops + Sweaters: Turn on your JavaScript to view content My Go-to Leggings: Turn on your JavaScript to view content Top Layers: Turn on your JavaScript to view content Other ideas for how to style top layers.
