Style Board Series | Summer Mom Uniform May 16, 2017 | Ok mamas! So many of you have asked about athleisure wear for Summer! I hear ya! I left you hanging with leggings and jackets and I start sweating at the sheer thought of wearing that to the park with a toddler in mid-June. We need a Summer Mom Uniform and today I’m giving you my formula for no-fail athleisure combinations that are functional, seasonally appropriate and cute enough to keep you from being that frumpy mom we all dread becoming. Just because you want to be comfy, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice all style, which is why we are all so thankful that it’s chic to wear athleisure clothes for the time being #amirite?! Here’s what you can expect my summer mom uniform to look like… JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Baseball Hats | Essential to cover up hair that’s past it’s prime. Luckily, these are really cute and add some interest. Yes, I think that it’s perfectly fine to wear a hat representing a team that you don’t necessarily support. I wear my Yankees hat all of the time and simply smile and nod when someone makes a baseball related comment…LOL. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Sports Bras | Of course I always suggest finding something supportive, but after that I always look for the styling. I almost always opt for a cute, detailed back to wear under cut-out tanks. This is a modest way to bear some skin in the warm Summer months. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Tanks or Tees| Especially in the Summer, I ALWAYS try to find tanks or tees with cute style details, specifically focused on the back. I love cutout backs, muscle tanks, or a cute criss-cross. This way you can show off your cute sports bra and still have a modest look from the front, while having a breathable back to stay cool. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Shorts + Skirts | Remember last year I told you to ditch these outdated Nike shorts? I still stand by that as they are so unflattering…and I only know this because I owned wayyyy too many pair and finally threw them all out. Replace them with a more streamlined short or cute tennis skirt. Here’s why I chose these pair.Zella Adjustable Length Shorts (Shown in blush and black) | I liked these because you can wear them rolled up or longer if you prefer a more modest inseam. They are super lightweight and have very clean lines for a great price. Note that they don’t have a liner, like some active shorts…which I’m fine with, but I know that some people have a preference. Nike Running Shorts | Another really simple, clean and flattering short for busy moms. They come in a few colors and DO have a liner. Nike Tennis Skirt | I own this tennis skirt and find myself wearing it all of the time. It’s a cute option to switch up from shorts or leggings and this one’s clean lines are flattering and elongate the legs. It comes in 5 colors and my favorites are black and white for basic staples. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Sneakers | You guys know my thoughts on sneakers…I can’t get enough. I’ve nearly worn holes in THESE and love them because they are slip on, but really you can’t go wrong with any of these great basics. I’m obsessed with how this mitt applied the foam and LOVE this color.
