One Room Challenge: Week Three October 16, 2014 | Welp, here I am again in week three of the One Room Challenge with a whole lot of NO progress to show you. ::In case you are new here, here are my WEEK ONE and WEEK TWO posts:: I’m sorry you guys. There were a lot of things going on behind the scenes, but no pretty progress pics to show off just yet. Here’s what got done: English Garden by Bari J removable paper from Wallternatives Wallpaper ordered and on its way. Okay, while we’re here, let’s have a chat about it. If you saw the design board then you know that I fell head over heels in love with this removable paper. I like bold and since I know that we are going to be selling this house sooner than later, I love the option that this paper is removable for the next owner (and I can totally take it with me!). In my mind, I had planned to do the entire room. I mean, it’s small and it’s a powder room….you HAVE to do the whole thing, right?! Well of course, I got all excited about it and started visualizing my beautiful paper hung in the room. You can see the powder room when walking in from our garage door and the more i visualized it, the more I got a little overwhelmed by it. The walls on either side of the powder room door are the original builder beige (blah), with white trim…so seeing this wowza paper against such a stark foreground kept throwing me off. Get a little visual…here’s the view of walking in from the garage. Might be a little much, right? So here’s the thing….my heart is set on the paper and I decided to paint the entire room a deep grayish navy and just paper the wall with the sink. I feel like the term “accent wall” is SO cliche in the design world so I almost don’t want to say it. Cliche or not, I feel like it’s what’s best for this space. I will still get the dramatic and bold powder room that I want AND I will also get to use my beloved paper, without feeling overwhelmed by it. In other news, the lighting is ordered and being made by one of my favorite new Etsy shops! Here’s the inspiration: Lastly, the mirror got primed. I am going to wait until the paper is hung before I decide on a color for this guy. Next, I have the coolest new switch plates coming in that are going to be so perfect for this project. I mean how chic is this brushed brass plate? I die. So there you have it….my update full of no updates. I promise next week I will be kicking my behind into gear and will have some fun progress to show you. I hope that you’ll stop back by! Now head over to check out the rest of the linking blogs….I know that they have much more amazing progress to tell you about!
