ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: THE BIG REVEAL! May 8, 2014 | It’s the big day!! Honestly, yesterday and today are like Christmas morning for me…waking up knowing that so much incredible design inspiration is waiting for me in my mailbox is almost too much to handle. So here goes…it’s Week SIX of the One Room Challenge and it’s time to show you the finished space in all of her glory! If you are new here catch up on the last few weeks here. here. here. here. and here. The short and sweet of this room is that it’s where we spend most of our time. It needed to be bright. The toys needed to vamoose and make it up to the playroom. The monstrosity of a microfiber sectional that we bought on a whim needed to find a new home. There also needed to be pattern mixing and pops of bold color to make mama happy. I found the leopard rug the week before the challenge started and I knew she would be perfect. I stumbled upon the drapes during week one at a thrift store (and about died) and knew that they would tie the room together. After some serious pleading, the wingback got upholstered in a yummy jade green velvet. And last, but certainly not least, we pulled off the DIY bay window cornice box…and I am happy to report that we are stilled barely married. ha. Joking. Not really. So here you go…our finished living area and adjoining bay window breakfast nook…. Isn’t this monogrammed pillow greatness?! I found the most adorable Etsy shop called The Peppermint Bee and she was sweet enough to send me this pillow to really tie everything together. You MUST check her shop out…she has the most darling monograms! And just to refresh here’s where we started: The Inspiration board and the before photos (yikes)! As always, such a fun and stressful ride…but in the end we are so so happy to have a bright, open and functional living space for our family to enjoy. Linda, you are such a genius for putting this together…not only does it kick my behind into gear to re-do a room in 6 weeks, but I have actually met real life and “blog life” friends throughout the journey…and that’s even better than a well designed room! So, thanks again for following along and dealing with my incessant #orc hashtags…you guys are the best! And this post wouldn’t be complete without thanking my handyman (aka hubs). He doesn’t understand these types of “blog things,” but he was a total trooper and helped me beyond measure. Now, do yourself a favor and check these ladies out…seriously jaw dropping design. Abby M. In the meantime, make sure that you are following along on Instagram as you never know what project I’ll start next. #trouble Have a great weekend!
