Oh, Hi! December 2, 2013 | Well hey ya’ll…I’ve missed you! Hoping that you had a fabulous Thanksgiving surrounded by lots of family and friends! I told myself that I was going to unplug last week and I did just that. There were days when I didn’t even turn on my computer and it actually felt GREAT. A break was just what I needed and now I feel ready to get creative again. My sweet mama came into town last Wednesday and just left this morning. LK and I are already really sad. But her time here was great and here’s a peep of what we were up to this past week. I told you guys that we weren’t cooking at home and would be eating out to celebrate Thanksgiving. BLT did not disappoint! Of course, the popovers will never taste as good as they are in NYC…all about the water, people…but darn they are still delicious. We all actually opted out of turkey and for prime rib. OMG it was so so good. And salted caramel pecan cake for dessert. Heaven. We had so many calories to burn off that my mom and I decided to head out for some Black Friday shopping around 7pm. Yes, we are crazy. While the whole fiasco is some peoples absolute worst nightmare, we actually love it and love spending the time together….and lets be real the people watching NEVER disappoints! I was nervous as to how I was going to tackle my list this year with a feisty 10 mo old in tow, so it actually worked out great….she slept peacefully at home with daddy and I tackled at least half of my list. Bam. Saturday was the hubs’ birthday! We woke him up with coffee and cookie cake to celebrate. Um yum. Cookie cake is my favorite. Gigi was sweet enough to watch LK while we snuck out for a date night. The Wine Shop in Foxcroft is my new favorite spot in Charlotte. I’ve known about it for a while, as it’s right down the street from us, but didn’t realize how good the food was. OMG. Truffled fried, Sicilian olives, crimini mushroom flat bread with onion jam, and donuts with chocolate dipping sauce?! We were in heaven and thoroughly enjoyed our time out. Our whopping third date night since LK’s birth. I will say having your mom as a babysitter makes it a TON easier. Mom, can you just move here? Thanks! Sunday we finished decking the halls for Christmas. We tag teamed while LK was napping and ended up getting everything done, including the front door garland. There’s something about Christmas lights that just makes me so happy all day long! And finally, the dining room is getting her face lift, ya’ll. She’s going to be pretty traditional, but the chandy that I showed you last week adds a fun twist. I vowed to use most of what we had and the artwork hung here is from our last house. Hopefully more progress this week as well as the beginnings of a fun Christmas table! Thanks for coming back to check in…there are lots of fun things lined up for this week so stay tuned! Missed you!
