Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 | FAQ June 27, 2018 | Alright gals who’s excited?!?!? It’s that time of year again and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is right around the corner (two weeks from tomorrow to be exact!) and I’ve been counting down the days since May. If you’re new here, this is really my jam. I’ve covered the sale in depth for 5 years now and have shopped it for over 10 years. I know that a lot of you started following me because of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale posts and I’m so thrilled to have you back for another year. This is when I totally take it up a notch, put in some major overtime and really tackle this mammoth of a sale on your behalf, so that you can shop it from the comfort of your sofa. I will do multiple posts over the life of the sale and start with general favorites that I know will sell out and then break it down more specific categories. Here are some general pointers as to how to shop the sale, what to expect from me and how to get the items that you want before they sell out! See the catalog preview HERE What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a sale that happens only ONCE A YEAR and always during July. It’s when Nordstrom offers PRE-SEASON, on trend merchandise at deep discounts. For example, Nordstrom forecasts the best Fall trends, buys lots of styles (and lots of basics) and offers them at a discount for you to shop ahead of time. This sale is the best time to stock up on high ticket Fall and Winter items for the entire family at savings that you’d never be able to get in season. Think boots, jeans, coats, back to school, sneakers, beauty…you name it! Discounts are typically 30%+ off of retail and prices go back up when the sale is over (8/5). When is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? Pre-sale opens to cardholders on July 12th and then it opens to the public on July 20th. I HIGHLY recommend getting a Nordstrom Card so that you have access to shop the pre-sale because most of the coveted items will absolutely sell out before it opens to the public. The sale ends August 5th. How do I make sure that I get what I want before it sells out? This sale has really turned into an “event” and people prep for it all year, resulting in lots of things selling out right away. If you want to avoid that and still snag the best items…that’s why I’m here! I’m pre-shopping the sale, picking all of my favorites, and will make sure to note if I feel like an item will sell out! I’m 99% accurate at predicting, I promise! My first post which will be BEST OF THE BEST (aka things that I cannot wait to get my hands on and also great basics that I buy every year) will publish between 6-7am on Thursday 7/12. It’s best to shop that post right away, because I’ll have included all of the things that I predict to sell out right away. Make sure that you are signed up for my emails so that you’re notified when the post goes live. How will I blog through the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? With lots of coffee, that’s how 😉 In all seriousness, there will be quite a few posts to take in and here’s a rough draft of my outline, because things are bound to change! –Nordstrom Anniversary Sale MUST HAVES | This post will encompass favorites across all categories and should be the first thing that you shop. I’ll have fit details and sizing info and what makes each item such a great deal included within the post, so you won’t ever have to step foot into a store. See last years kick off post HERE. –Best of Women’s Shoes + Accessories | Shoes and bags get an entire post, because they have some of the best deals. –Best of Men’s + Kids | Breaking it down for the entire family, including what we are personally buying and even a fitting room review from Dan 😉 See last year’s post HERE –Best of Workwear + Fashion Over 50 | Styling out some key workwear pieces and also making sure that my mama joins in on the fun this year again. Remember how cute she was last year?! –Best of Beauty | LOTS of beauty deals out there and I’m going to test out the best ones! See last year’s post HERE -I’ll also do posts for Public Access and Last Call! See last year’s post HERE. I will also be keeping you updated in real time on Instastories with multiple live fit reviews and real time in stock alerts. Make sure that you are following along there and have notifications for my stories turned ON. FOLLOW ALONG ON INSTAGRAM HERE …See I told you that I’d be busy! So much fun though! Reader Q + A: Will you be covering all categories? Yes, absolutely! And if you have any special requests, shoot them my way and I will make a point to check them out. Think of me as your very own virtual personal shopper. If you want to get an idea of how in depth these posts are, see last years HERE. Why do so many bloggers post about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? It’s a great earning opportunity for bloggers, but it’s also VERY overwhelming to have so many people posting about the same thing…I get that. I would personally suggest zoning in on a very few bloggers who you actually shop from because they will probably be able to offer you the best advice and suggestions, otherwise you’ll want to chuck your phone into the nearest pool and never hear about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale again. Think of me as your very own personal shopper and use that to your advantage. My calendar is clear and I’m in the store nearly every day. If you want tailored fit reviews or if I’ve missed something that you want more info on–don’t hesitate to reach out to me! How do I make sure that you are given credit for my sale? I am always an open book with this question, so here’s how to ensure that I’m credited for your purchase (should I have been the one who helped you). -Do not check out via the Nordstrom App (no one is given credit through the app). -Make sure that you click on one of my links last. If you’re on desktop, those links would be from one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale posts. If you’re on mobile those links would be on my blog (viewed on your phone) or via swipe up in Instagram. -Remember, that even if you load your cart down from suggestions from one blogger, but click on one other item from another blogger–that last click is given credit for your entire sale. -If you buy online and pick up in store…I am given credit, but if you choose to just shop in the store- the store associate is given the credit. I always encourage people to ensure credit is given to the person whom they feel has helped them the most…just like within a traditional store. We are all working so hard behind the scenes so I have no problem being honest about how it works 🙂 How do I decide on sizing, especially when things sell out so fast? That’s why I’m planning to do fit reviews for you guys!! Hopefully these will help you make educated decisions on pricing, but if all else fails order two sizes and return the one that doesn’t work. Are any items re-stocked? Typically, no. There used to be tons of restocks, but the past two years there have been very few full restocks, aside from random sizes that have been returned. What are you personally shopping for? I always stock up on basics….cardigans, leggings, booties, boots, and jeans. I’m also planning to get Landry’s back to school list checked off (tennis shoes, jeans, a new Northface) and to spruce up Dan’s workwear closet! Here are some sneaks at my initial favorites from the catalog! Very few of these items are over $100, so that should give you a feel for how great the prices are! If you have any special requests, please leave them in the comments! Or if you are just as excited as I am–let me know! I cannot wait to tackle another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale with you guys and think that this year is going to be the most fun yet! xoxox
Katie says June 27, 2018 at 11:46 AM So just some feedback for you….on your first post (the one that is early morning the first day of early access)…I only look at the pics. I did not watch the fit videos….I think the pics and your fit comments are sufficient. I always try to do my first order pretty quickly in hope for no out of stock issues so I am fine with just pictures if you don’t want to take the time to do videos. Just a little feedback! I can’t wait for your post….I am armed with a big gift card I have been saving since Christmas! 🙂 I don’t live anywhere near a store so your posts are very helpful to me!
Style Your Senses says June 27, 2018 at 12:20 PM Katie- This is such great feedback and right in line with what I’m doing this year! Previous sales have been before the “Instagram story” so the youtubes were the only way to really show people how the clothes fit and move. Now I will stick to stories to give more real time reviews. Cannot wait to shop it with you again this year! xoxo
Anne says June 27, 2018 at 11:51 AM Your coverage of the sale is HANDS DOWN my favorite! I bought more pieces last year than I have ever purchased in my life based on your recommendations! Can’t wait!!! 🙂
Brooke says June 27, 2018 at 12:03 PM I need a teacher’s wardrobe! Help! I hate getting credit cards though 🙁
Style Your Senses says June 27, 2018 at 12:17 PM I actually feel the EXACT same about credit cards, but I had to cave here because it’s really the only way you will secure what you want. Of course, there will still be some stuff in stock, but quite a bit of the best deals go super fast 🙁
Jackie T. says June 27, 2018 at 5:00 PM Brooke, you can do the debit card instead and it works just the same for access and rewards without opening up another line of credit. 😉
Brooke says June 28, 2018 at 9:26 PM Thank you! I’ll try that. 95% of the items Mallory posts are gone by the time I go to get them and it’s usually not long after she posts!
Colleen Nowak says June 30, 2018 at 1:07 PM And last year during the early access sale they had a delay in shipping (I think that was the issue) and to apologize they rewarded triple points for those orders, which you can only get through the card! Their customer service is excellent! I love my debit 🙂
kathy says June 27, 2018 at 1:07 PM Yes, I loved your posts last year on the Nsale! If they carry more colors in the Blanknyc moto jackets, please try one of those on! I can hardly wait for the sale!
kathy olson says June 27, 2018 at 1:09 PM I loved your posts from the Nsale last year. If they have any new Blanknyc moto jackets, please feature one! Thanks and I can’t wait for the sale!
Style Your Senses says July 1, 2018 at 1:53 PM Yes for sure! I LOVE that jacket! happy to have you here, kathy!
Brandí says June 30, 2018 at 10:53 AM So two years ago I bought ALL THE THINGS. And I am now limiting myself to one or two splurges. Can you please include a “if you should only get one or two things” recommendation? That will help me narrow it down! Thanks!!!
Style Your Senses says July 1, 2018 at 1:50 PM I think that’s an awesome idea! I might so something like a TOP 5 or 10 and you can judge based on what you need specifically! Cant wait!
Colleen Nowak says June 30, 2018 at 1:12 PM I love this post! Thank you for explaining how to give you or other bloggers credit! I utilize your service and live nowhere near a store to try things on so I love to give you the credit the right (and easiest!) way! I always love your shoe recommendations especially since I can’t try them on-style and COMFORT are the most important to me 🙂 and I feel like shoes always sell out fast!! I always get new cardigans! Every year I get a new barefoot dreams one because they are a DREAM! My friends who go to the store usually get the intel on what the best beauty item values are and what is going fast, so I’d love to hear that early! Lastly, I will be having my second son in October so would love the kid/baby recommendations! Thank you!!!
Style Your Senses says July 1, 2018 at 1:49 PM LOVE all of these recs. And you’re totally right– sizes in shoes are some of the fastest to sell–especially half sizes! So happy to have you back this year!
Jessica Fry says June 30, 2018 at 10:44 PM Your guide last year was my go-to for sure! I grew up in WA State (Nordstrom headquarters) but now live in NC and I’ve shopped the anniversary sale for about 20 years!! I used to take off from work and travel to Seattle and Portland just to shop but now as a working momma of littles I can’t do that—so all my shopping is done online. Some of the things I found myself going to again and again This last year that you suggested are the sparkle native shoes (I never would’ve found those last year) for my daughter, And the boy version for my son, Zella workout stuff (the vest, leggings), the cardigans. This year I need comfy work shoes (flats), winter jacket, cute tennis shoes, work pants
Style Your Senses says July 1, 2018 at 1:47 PM Hey Jessica! Yay so glad you found some goodies last year! I plan to tackle workwear in depth- so stay tuned. Happy to have you back this year!
Charlotte says July 11, 2018 at 10:18 PM So excited! I love following your blogs! You give the best (and honest) reviews! What time does the sale go live online?
