Monday Mood Board: Entryway/Foyer September 30, 2013 | I don’t make mood boards enough. And that’s a shame because the really make me happy. Going to try out this whole Mood Board Monday thing. You cool with that? OK. Anyway, foyers are on my mind. Mine is boooooring with a capital B. Another part of the house that was thrown together the minute we moved in and has not been touched since. Wah wah. What makes it worse is that I feel like the entryway to your home should be like a giant, warm and fuzzy hug just waiting to greet guests and make them feel good about walking into your house. Our neighbors (who had never been IN our house) came over unexpectedly the other day and I literally felt sad that I didn’t have a proper entry all set up to greet them. My console table has become a place to drop stuff off and when they came in it was home to mail, ten pacis, a sippy cup, and keys. This must end. I need to reel it in and create a styled vignette. I actually LIKE my console table, and while it is a hand-me-down, I painted it gold and I really still like the lines of it. I need a piece of art and more substantial lamps and some stylish tchotchkes. So as I work through this dilemma see some of my inspiration below. Will update you when I am done! Meanwhile….what does your entryway say about you? vogue.com Here’s my inspiration board. Light and modern but still very traditional overall. I feel like the colors, prints and textures are the open arms that you need, while the classic lines of the furniture are what grounds the vignette. What do you think…would you feel all warm and fuzzy walking into this room? Hope that you had a fabulous weekend and are making it through your Monday with plenty-o-caffeine!
Aaryn Rubin says September 30, 2013 at 10:33 PM I will be thrilled when we one day have a foyer! And a laundry room, and an office…my list just goes on. Until then, we rent and I just keep repeating, "it's not my house, it's not my house…" It's oh so hard!!! Especially when I'm about to put together baby girls nursery…
charmingincharlotte@gmail.com says October 2, 2013 at 2:12 PM Aaryn I feel ya! This house is def not ideal so it's hard putting a lot of work into it jsut knowing that we will leave it behind.
Erin and Laura House Envy says October 1, 2013 at 9:25 PM love your mood board!! You should make them more often as this one is awesome!! Love the painting and the lamps! Those sconce lights are to die for too! Out of the other ones I love the one with the bench! I like that it is different. You get so accustomed to seeing a foyer table. LauraHouse Envy
charmingincharlotte@gmail.com says October 2, 2013 at 2:14 PM Thanks girl! I will def start doing them more…I love putting them together. And I totally agree with you on the bench! A girlfriend of mine just scored the most fabulous tufted pink bench with lacquer white legs at HomeGoods and is going to use it in her foyer and I must admit I am a little jelly!
