Island Picnic + Nursery Update May 13, 2014 | First, let me start off by saying thank you thank you for all of the love on yesterdays post! The comments, emails, texts and Facebook shares were so awesome to see, affirming that I am not alone with this and that we should all stick together. This was the kind of sisterhood that my 9 mo prego self imagined motherhood to be. My hope is that some sweet new mama who hadn’t showered in days, with a crying baby read it and felt a little better about her day. Love you guys. Today I’m sharing an amazing brand with you that I think you will appreciate just as much as I do. When Island Picnic contacted me about their organic products for your home, I was very interested to hear more. They were sweet enough to send LK a toddler pillow, just in time for me to introduce a pillow into her crib. In the meantime, I also started doing my research on the benefits of organic cotton. Did you know that over 8,200 chemicals are used when manufacturing textiles?!? Say what? So, the rule of thumb is that if anything touches baby’s skin for an extended period of time (diaper, pillow, pj’s), you might want to opt for organic. I am SO impressed with the quality of the Island Picnic brand as well as their price points. Since only about ONE percent of the worlds cotton is produced organically, I expected the price tag to reflect that, but nope, only $40.00 for a toddler pillow that is 100% organic. Not only do they have toddler bedding and pillows, but they also have a full assortment of home accents like throw pillows and drapes. On top of this, the three generations of gals who own and run the business are no less than inspiring! LK absolutely loves sleeping on and snuggling with her pillow…and I would too…it’s SO soft! Of course I had to take her pillow case in for an applique monogram and I just flip it over for her to sleep on. Wallpaper In case you’re wondering, Landry’s nursery is still my favorite room in the house. And even though it’s been almost TWO years, the afternoon sun shining in on my strawberry blonde girl who just woke up from a nap never gets old. Other than her sweet pillow, not much has changed in the nursery…except a lot more messes to clean up 😉 So, if you are like me and considering introducing a pillow to your sweet toddlers crib, definitely check out Island Picnic. You can feel at ease with the organic cotton they use, and the quality will not disappoint! If you don’t have a toddler, be sure to check out the rest of their home accents. They really spiced up the traditional organic stereotypes of “beige and white” and added fun punches of color and pattern with a nautical twist. My favorites are this this this and this.
