How to Style Black Jeans for Fall + Which Ones to Buy Now! October 24, 2018 | I’ve said it many times before, but every girl should have a go-to pair of black jeans that make you feel like a million bucks. In my case I have multiples, because I much prefer black jeans over traditional denim. I find them more flattering, slimming and easy to wear with nearly anything during the Fall and Winter. If you don’t have a pair of black jeans yet, this post is for you! If you’re looking to add a versatile pair to your existing lineup-this post is also for you! I’m breaking down how to style black jeans for Fall + 4 pair that I own and absolutely love! BEST VALUE | MOST VERSATILE | BEST FIT | BEST FOR HOLIDAY How to Style Black Jeans: Going in order of prices low to high-because I can’t otherwise pick a favorite! STS Black Ankle Skinny Jeans | $45 I LOVE this brand for affordable, well made denim and this black skinny pair did NOT disappoint! They are slimming, have just enough stretch and can easily be dressed down for everyday wear or snazzed up a little for nighttime. The length is great and they run TTS, I’m comfortable in the 28. *Pro Tip: You CAN wear black jeans with a black top, but I always like to break it up with a belt. You can’t really see it here, but this bow shoulder tee is so so cute and very well priced! Bow Shoulder Top | Logo Belt | Black Skinnies | Leopard Heels Left: Bow Shoulder Top | Logo Belt | Black Skinnies | Leopard Heels Right: Cable Knit Sweater | Black Skinnies | OTK Boots | Leopard Scarf Wit and Wisdom Black Ponte Pant | $68 These are the only pair that don’t feel like traditional denim, but they function the same in your closet. I included these for two reasons, the first being their versatility and the second being that I love the built in waist band. The black ponte of these is so slimming and easy to wear (read: COMFY), but also gives them a bit of a dressy feel, great fro the workplace. On that same note, the trendy gunmetal zipper details make them easy to transition to nighttime as well and I love how they look dressed up for date night! For the price point especially, the wearability is amazing. I’ve blogged about this brand time and time again, because I love the fit and the built in 1” thick elastic band built into the waist. It really helps them to stay in place, giving you a confident fit and all day wear. If you haven’t tried these before, they are definitely worth giving a shot! They have all denim styles HERE and these pants in particular also come in a wide range of colors. The fit, the feel, the wash, the price- they are all the things and I’m SO so glad that I happened upon them. They have more of a faded black wash that lends itself to a dark grey in the light and I’ve been loving wearing them on a more casual day to day basis. They’ve 100% become my everyday go-to and I’ve dressed them up, down and nearly everything in between. They have a slightly higher rise (hitting about an inch below my belly button), are very flattering on the behind and have a perfect cropped leg making them great to wear with booties or sneaekrs. *Pro Tip: You CAN wear black jeans for a super casual day! I usually opt for a more washed black or even a distressed pair for a casual feel and pair them with flat booties or even sneakers. Left: Cozy Fleece Peplum Top | Crop Skinnies | Wedge Bootie Right: Fleece Burnout Sweatshirt | Crop Skinnies | Wedge Bootie Left: Cozy Fleece Peplum Top | Crop Skinnies | Wedge Bootie Right: Fleece Burnout Sweatshirt | Crop Skinnies | Wedge Bootie Also seen here: Chambray | Vest | Jeans | Booties Good American Wax Coated High Waisted Black Skinnies | $179 I tried my very very best NOT to like these, but alas I cannot lie—I LOVE THEM. I was lacking a dressy black skinny jean and these were the perfect solution! High waisted, flattering on a woman’s body, and have just enough sheen to them to make them special. Think Holiday parties, date night, girls night, or really just any occasion because you’ll WANT to wear these 24-7. Trust me, I would never recommend something at this price point unless I was certain you’d love it! Joanna says October 24, 2018 at 3:03 PM I love black jeans as they are easy to dress up, give the appearance of being slimmer and go with everything. I have several! I was surprised you didn’t feature any straight leg jean as they seem to be trending. I’ll never give up my skinnies but have added some baby bootcut for that added leggy look. I’m also on the hunt for the perfect pair of straight leg. What’s your take on the straight leg look that I’m seeing on blogs?
Style Your Senses says October 27, 2018 at 9:44 PM Hey Joanna! I’m just getting to these comments- I think I answered in a previous reply. I love flare but don’t love bootcut or straight—that’s my total personal opinion though 😉
CJ says October 24, 2018 at 10:15 PM What size did you get in the burnout sweatshirt? I’m 5’1” and wondering how long it is! Thanks!
Maisie says October 26, 2018 at 6:29 PM ok, so this blog and others ive seen are the BEST. i like how you take pictures of the outfits AND of you in them!!! Great Blog! 1000 thumbs up!
Joanna says October 26, 2018 at 8:48 PM I guess my car moment didn’t go through. It happens! I was wondering why you didn’t show jeans other than skinnies in your How to Style Black Jeans for Fall. I’m seeing straight leg jeans all over blogland, Pinterest and instagram. I’m just not sure on the styling method so they don’t look frumpy. Any insight?
Style Your Senses says October 27, 2018 at 9:42 PM Hey Joanna! I personally don’t love straight leg or bootcut for my own figure, so I won’t be styling them. BUT I did style embellished black cropped flares in a post two weeks back and LOVED THEM! Check it out for sure for some inspo 🙂 xoxo
