Holiday Home Tour 2017 December 7, 2017 | Good Morning! Opening up our home today and inviting you in for a cup of coffee and to check out our decked halls. As some of you who’ve been here a while know, I started this blog only posting home decor…Landry’s nursery was what really propelled this blog from nothing to something and I’m forever grateful for that. Over the years, it’s completely evolved and home decor has taken a back seat for a second. I started feeling the pressure to have everything staged so perfectly for each photo and to constantly be re-working rooms that I had JUST finished. It was all too much, while actually trying to live and raise babies in our small suburban house that was never going to be perfect. I’ve done a Holiday Home Tour each year and this year I swore that I wasn’t going to do one. Why? Because my decor is pretty much the same that it’s been for 3 years and I didn’t want to change it because I still love it. Because I have two small children and my house is never fully clean….there are always puffs or dust bunnies or laundry (or worse) hiding in the shadows. Because I have no time to string 300 strands of twinkle lights from every crevice of a room to create the perfect image….I actually wish I did because those images are beautiful, but that’s not my phase of life right now. All of that to say, I decided to embrace the mess and share it anyway. I staged and photographed this home tour in one of Lawson’s 1 hour naps and edited these photos on my phone (normally a brutal photoshop process to get *just* the right lighting) and if you look close you can see all of the imperfections. But what I’m hoping that you see is a home full of love and magic as two sweet girls learn the story of Christmas and patiently wait on Santa. I hope that all of you mamas are embracing the mess and letting go a little so that you have more room in your hearts to soak it all in. Thanks for stopping by our house today, we are thrilled you’re here… Most things in our home aren’t current, so if I do choose to link something it could be a “similar” item to help you recreate the overall look. If you want original links and sourcing for nearly any item in our home, see the HOME TOUR page and it lists sources for EVERYTHING (including paint colors). Kicking it off in the formal living room (aka wasted space, but pretty place for our tree). It’s to the immediate left of the front door, so what you see right when you walk in… Turn on your JavaScript to view content This flocked tree has really evolved, but after 3 years I’m still loving flocked more than ever. It started off Ombre, then moved to Blue and Pink and now this…. The one thing that I will mention about this room is that we just updated it with THIS RUG and it’s legit an AMAZING deal (like under $100!) and we absolutely love it. The colors are so vibrant! This space is actually my least favorite in the entire house and actually going to be getting an upgrade this spring. It’s such a tricky area, but I’ve found the perfect people to help me fix it up and I cannot wait to show you what I picked out for it! One of my favorite things to snag after Thanksgiving are some living paperwhites. They make me so happy and feel very festive. These are from Whole Foods. Here’s our living room and where we spend the most time. Again, the decor has been mostly the same for quite some time now, but the colors work in here and I love it. This is probably my favorite image from the entire day. This was all laid out on my floor before I went to photograph this space and I couldn’t bear to move it. It was the perfect symbol of our house right now and the little people who live here. She’s got it all arranged so perfectly, too…makes my heart melt. Last year we decided to get her her own tree and decked it out in Parisian themed ornaments. The back story is this room is that it was inspired by a Laduree bag when we were in Paris and praying for a baby girl. I think that the full story is in THIS post. Anyway, her tree is a total steal and is absolutely perfect for this space. Judy Clark says December 7, 2017 at 1:31 PM You have a lovely family. Your home looks beautiful. Trust me, when those little ones grow up and are gone, that messy house won’t make one bit of difference. Have a Blessed Christmas! Judy
Susan Taylor says December 7, 2017 at 5:23 PM Your home is beautiful! I think my favorite is what I suppose is the breakfast room–white poinsettia on table and wreaths in the windows–so simple and fresh.
Pat says December 7, 2017 at 8:30 PM Absolutely gorgeous! I have no idea how you do so much, especially with 2 children and 1 a baby! Each tree is beautiful and the mantle, perfection!! Did you make the gold & silver decor in the entry? I love it! I’m glad you are ignoring the messy spots ~ I can’t see any! Focus on the little ones as it all goes too fast! Wishing you and yours a blessed and very Merry Christmas! ????
Angie says December 9, 2017 at 9:04 AM I love that you keep it real. And for having 2 kids your house is in good shape! If I want to see fake under real rooms I’ll read a magazine. I don’t. So never put that pressure on yourself ????
