Fall Fitness Update August 23, 2018 | We’ve NEARLY made it through another week, friends! Today I’m talking all about my Fall Fitness Reset and how it’s going! Remember at the beginning of the month I shared a full post about what I was going to try out and WHY I was even doing it? (If you missed my first Fall Fitness, see THIS POST) Well, I’m happy to report back 3+ weeks later and give you an update as to what changes I’ve made, how it’s all going and a few new workout wear pieces that I treated myself to (ON SALE!) to keep motivated. Don’t miss the sale details at the end of this post! You won’t believe the prices during eBay’s End of the Season Sale! P.S. Get a super similar tank for $20!!!! On August 1 I started Orange Theory Fitness and have really given it my all over the past 3 weeks, going at a minimum of 4-5 times per week. What I’m loving is that each class is different (literally there’s NEVER a duplicate workout), so I never get bored. It’s really been pushing me out of my comfort zone as far as my heart rate, running speeds, and weight training is concerned. I love being surrounded by other motivated people during a workout because I feel like it really pushed ME to take it to the next level. I’ve been waking up extra early to make it to the 5am class most mornings and while I HATE the 4:30 am alarm buzzer, I’m always SO happy that I knock it out so early and have time to get home, shower and get ready before the girls are even up. IF I simply can’t make that time in the morning work, I’ll squeeze in a mid-morning class or head to the 7:30pm class after I put the girls down. I really do appreciate the variety of times available. Turn on your JavaScript to view content I have DEFINITELY noticed a difference in the tone and shape of my body, namely my arms and abs have trimmed down and I even put on a pair of jeans the other day that felt a little loose (aka the best feeling)! I’m usually sore after each workout, making me more aware of my body and serving as a constant reminder that I’m working towards a goal! The only negatives have been that my *ideal* class times (5am, 6am) fill up FAST and either I’m placed on a waitlist or I’m having to book at least 1-2 weeks out. That’s normally fine, but sometimes stuff comes up last minute and I’m forced to pay the $12 late cancel fee, which can actually add up quickly. The other downside is the price for unlimited ($160/month) isn’t something that I budgeted for long term. Of course, I’d love to continue and make this my “go-to” workout, but I’m not quite ready to commit financially yet. I’ll update you guys on this next month. During the past 3 weeks, we’ve really had a lot going on so I knew that sticking to a strict eating plan would have been unrealistic, so my plan was to start on that 9/1. During the past few weeks, I have dramatically cut down on the junk though and have been making much better choices. I’ve also been doing intermittent fasting for the past week (only during weekdays for now) and can actually say that I like it. The first few days were HARD, but I feel like you acclimate quickly and I noticed a difference almost immediately. I didn’t feel bloated, my tummy was flatter and overall just wasn’t as hungry throughout the day as I would have been should I have kicked off the day with an early breakfast. My fasting schedule is fast from 7:30 pm – 11:30 am, eat from 11:30 am – 7:30 pm. I make sure to fuel up on lean proteins, healthy fats, and am beginning to reel in the carb intake (especially after my first meal of the day). I’m not an IF expert, so if you have any tips, leave them in the comments. For September, I plan to do more of a Whole30 meal plan, incorporating intermittent fasting. I’ll keep you guys updated as that approaches! For the time being, you can dive into a ton of Whole30 posts HERE. Turn on your JavaScript to view content To keep motivated, I typically *treat* myself to something small each week and lately I’ve been revamping my workout wardrobe. Going from mainly running and working out at home, and into a group setting I quickly realized that a few cute workout pieces wouldn’t hurt! I was SO happy to find eBay’s End of the Season Sale happening because they have dramatically marked down hundreds of NEW items and lots of them happened to be athletic wear (win win)! I scored this tank for under $22 and absolutely love it. The armholes are a little bit extended making it super cute and very breathable for a good sweat session. I am still blown away by the amount of NEW merchandise that eBay sells at unbeatable prices. I’m able to find nearly anything new with tags for a total steal! Jaime says August 23, 2018 at 12:10 PM I started Pure Barre a few months ago and after much agonizing, I made the plunge to join as 12 mo member. My area at least is the same as your OTF, $160/month. Which is a bitter pill to swallow for sure!! I finally decided that I needed to just commit to being more fit and healthy and it’s basically like I have unlimited access to a personal trainer who’s kicking my butt 5 times a week. And an actual personal trainer would be way more expensive than that and not unlimited. I am definitely not the kind of disciplined person who faithfully goes to the gym and pushes myself for an hour like I get at PB. And I’m a giant introvert, so it’s pushing me to get out and actually interact with people instead of going to the gym with my headphones and not talking to a soul. 🙂
