Crock Pot Mississippi Roast Recipe October 17, 2017 | Coming at you with one of the most highly requested posts…of ever. I’ve been sharing “what’s in my crock pot” glimpses and recipes over on Instagram Stories and you guys did not soon forget this crock pot Mississippi Roast recipe! I shared it briefly and I cannot tell you how many questions I’ve gotten about it! I’ve also had countless readers come back and rave about how good it was when they tried it! So, here ya go…the full recipe to reference back to and my spin on a Mississippi Roast! As the weather cools, it’s the perfect time to set this in the crockpot and come back 6 hours later to the most amazing cozy, comfort food meal. Don’t let the butter scare you, this roast feeds our family of 3 for 3 nights so almost 9 meals total, which makes it pretty dang healthy in the end. See below to all of the different ways I’ve cooked it and served it! What you need: -2-3 lb Roast (I always go more for a 3lb) -1 packet of Ranch Dressing mix -1 packet of Brown Gravy Mix -5-7 Pepperoncinis + 2-3 tbsp of the juice -1 stick of Butter Other things that I like to add: -Baby Carrots -Diced Baby Potatoes Serve with any of the following: -Rice -Cauliflower Rice -Mashed Potatoes -Mashed Cauliflower -Over Egg Noodles -Serve on a hoagie type bread with provolone cheese and use the gravy as an au jus dip Here’s how I assemble mine: Cook on HIGH in your crock pot for 5-6 hours. See above for different ways to serve it. There are so many options and it changes it up each time. Without the vegetables the buttery taste is more apparent and with the vegetables it tastes more like a stew. Both options are amazingly delicious. I hope that you guys enjoy it, would love to know what you think when you do try it! Don’t forget to pin the below image to you “Dinner” boards on Pinterest so that you can always find it 🙂
Style Your Senses says October 17, 2017 at 11:43 AM Nope, just as stated. It felt so strange to me at first too, but I promise the butter, pepperoncini juce and juices from the meat make quite a but of gravy 😉
Johanna Boozer says October 17, 2017 at 11:15 AM I have sent the screenshot of that recipe many-a-time — so happy to have this post! It is one of our new family (and extended family) faves!
Johanna Boozer says October 17, 2017 at 11:18 AM I’ve also cut the butter, and added a bit more pepperoncini juice and water. It definitely didn’t taste as rich, but was a little spicier and still delicious!

Kerri says October 17, 2017 at 5:39 PM I am always excited to try a new crockpot recipe, with three kids and a busy schedule it’s such a lifesaver! I am curious if this ends up being spicy? Because of the pepperoncinis… I actually don’t know what those are! They look like little jalapeño peppers to me. I only ask because one of my kids has a very sensitive stomach and can’t handle anything spicy… she even has a hard time with BBQ sauce! I wonder if I could just omit those and if it would still taste good? I just bought a roast from Costco that I would love to try this recipient with! Thanks in advance!
Style Your Senses says October 17, 2017 at 8:42 PM I didn’t know what they were either but they are definitely not spicy at all! My hubs has a sensitive stomach too and this is totally fine! They are more of a savory pepper (no kick at all) and pair really well with the roast. Let me know what you think when you make it! xoxo
Lindsay says October 21, 2017 at 10:09 AM I have been making this since you share on IG stories and it is LEGIT. Thanks for sharing this!!
Claire Harris says October 27, 2017 at 7:18 PM Thank you for sharing this! I made it for dinner and to quote my husband, “this changes my entire opinion of roast!” It’s so tender and not at all chewy or tough the way pot roast can sometimes become. Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
Angela G says October 29, 2017 at 1:38 PM I’m trying this now! But my grocery store didn’t have pepperoncinis OR banana peppers, so…. I’m just adding a little water and hoping for the best! I added onions too!
Karen V says November 10, 2017 at 9:18 PM This is a fantastic recipe that I have made many times. I have recently converted to using rabbit for the meat of this recipe and it is fantastic.
