Cozy Holiday Travel Outfit Ideas + Our Holiday Travel Plans + Tips December 14, 2017 | Good Morning! Writing to you with the strongest possible cup of coffee that I could make at 5:00 a.m.! Sweet Lawson is teething something fierce so we are just getting by over here. Hopefully she get some relief soon because we soon leave to head home for the Holidays, which brings me back to this post…cozy Holiday Travel Outfit Ideas and our crazy Holiday travel ideas. I’ve said it before, but Sole Society is becoming one of my absolute go-to retailers for all things shoes, apparel and accessories and I’m excited to show you what I found there today for cozy travel outfits that won’t break the bank! *Note that everything in this post is available to make it to you in time for Christmas, just select 3 Day Shipping at checkout!* Turn on your JavaScript to view content Color Block Poncho (ON MAJOR SALE!) | Weekender Bag (Under $70!) | Cashmere Travel Wrap (on SALE!) | Cashmere Beanie (not shown) | Booties (that I wear nearly everyday) First, before we talk about how cute it is, can we talk about why all of the sudden this style is now called a “ruana” now instead of just a plain old “poncho” or “cape”?? If you’ve been searching for them and are coming up with no results, this is probably why. Anyhow, I digress! Obviously, I’m having a thing with rust colors and deep orange hues this season (SO out of the box for me) and this poncho caught my eye RIGHT away. I could see it fitting in to my current wardrobe seamlessly and pairing back to all of my neutrals perfectly. It’s actually a bit thicker than most of my ponchos and actually really adds some warmth to the top layer, making it fine to wear a long sleeve t-shirt or turtleneck underneath. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Here’s why I love wearing a poncho when traveling in the Winter: -Easy to shed in the airport, specifically security. You can be warm and cozy getting to the airport, but don’t have to worry about shedding lots of layered sweaters upon entering the airport or back up the security line. This thing is on and off in a few seconds and easy to throw on and go -They serve as a blanket on the airplane.I love wrapping up in a good poncho and appreciate the extra fabric to snuggle in. -They are baby carrier friendly! Call me vain, but can we talk about how unflattering baby carriers can make the backside look? I mean good gracious so many lumps from that dang thing! If I’m wearing Lawson in a carrier (which I do 90% of the time through the airport), I always have a poncho thrown over me. That way it’s hiding all of the situation from the carrier and also serves as a blanket to wrap around her. Win WIN! -Not related to traveling, but they also make amazing gifts. Women of all ages can wear them and they are one size fits all so they make a good universal gift! See all ponchos HERE. Turn on your JavaScript to view content So many favorites in this post, but the best value definitely lies within this weekender bag! Would you believe that it’s under $70??? I didn’t either until I actually got it in my hands! It’s vegan leather and has the cutest black and white spotted interior and is amazing quality for this price. It also comes with a long cross body strap, which is especially amazing for traveling with kids, because let’s be clear—you’ve got to have both hands free in the airport to manage them. I’m bringing this one on-flight for our trip over the weekend. I’m going to use it as Lawson’s diaper bag, plus Landry’s essentials bag. I’ve found that my regular diaper bag is just too dang small to take on a plane, given everything that needs to be in it…so this will be the perfect solution that will still slide under the seat should I need it to. I put an assortment of Sole Society’s Weekender Bags at the top of this paragraph to show you that they are kind of “known” to make adorable weekenders for .a super affordable price. I love the cognac color, too! A cute gift idea would be putting a poncho and a cute beanie hat within one of these weekender bags as an amazing gift for the gal who travels! See all under $100 Weekender Bags HERE. As a special Holiday collection, Sole Society also launched a few cashmere pieces and let me tell you they are delicious! I got the travel wrap (above) and the matching beanie (that you’ve seen me wear on Instagram before). The wrap is much more full than a traditional scarf, so you could actually use it for more of a blanket + wrap on an airplane or during a long road trip. If you have a cashmere lover on your list, this is such a good thing to snag. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Y’all know that I wear these booties nearly every dang day. They easily slip on and off, give me a little height without being too tall and are comfortable enough to wear all day with the girls. As if the Holiday’s aren’t already crazy enough, we always decide to be extra special and make the trek to Grandma’s house and back every year, kids in tow. Since our families live in different states it’s really hard to figure out a anything really fair, so instead we’ve found a way to hit both of them in one trip. This weekend we will all fly out of Charlotte and to Dallas (where Dan’s family lives). We get to visit and celebrate Christmas with them next week and also get to catch up with old friends while there. Mid-week we will then rent a car and drive over to my family in Louisiana. Normally we drive straight through (only about 6 hours), but this time with Lawson, we are making a pit stop to stay the night in Houston (the halfway point between my family and his). On Friday, we then head to Louisiana to celebrate Christmas with my family. The following week, we will all head home and fly out of Baton Rouge back to Charlotte. The logistics of the trip are absolutely terrible to plan and orchestrate and I have to buy and ship every single gift to either Dallas or Louisiana, remember what I bought everyone and then wrap when we are there. Santa also visits in Louisiana and then magically makes a smaller visit when we return home to Charlotte. And let’s not forget packing two weeks worth of winter clothes for myself and both girls in to a reasonable amount of suitcases is my version of hell… All of that to say, I honestly wouldn’t trade it. I mean, I would if we were closer to home FOR SURE I’d trade it, but for now there’s nothing like being with my family for the Holidays and I’ll do whatever it takes for the girls to experience that as well. What do you guys do for the Holidays? Do you have crazy travel plans like us or do you enjoy a quiet Christmas at home? I’d love to know how you celebrate and who you celebrate with!! I will definitely be taking some time off during the Holidays, but I think it will start mid-week next week. I will still be keeping up with Instagram + Instastories, so make sure that you are following along there! Cheers to this season of magic…thankful for you guys! *Thank you to Sole Society for sponsoring this post. All ideas, opinions and photography are my own.
