Christmas Break January 5, 2015 | Hi, friends! I can’t believe it’s been two whole weeks since I fired up my computer to chat with you guys. I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and enjoyed some down time with your family and friends. It actually felt great to take a break from this little piece of my world for a little bit and re-focus things a bit. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of photographing, posting, creating, Instagramming…the list goes on and on and on…and in that craziness that has become blogging these days, I think that I lost a little bit of why I started the blog in the first place. It’s been a wonderful two weeks of re-thinking and planning (sharing more on that this week….eeep!), but I’m glad to be back. I wanted to share a look at what we were doing while I was gone…a little glimpse of my family and what makes my world turn (and a few funny stories)….which I haven’t done in far too long. Beware of photo overload… We started our two weeks away by hopping a 6am flight to Dallas to see all of Dan’s family and our dear friends (for those of you new here, we moved to Charlotte from Dallas a little over 2 years ago). LK was a little fussy on the first leg (to ATL), but oh man by the 2.5 hour flight to Dallas it was pure chaos. Keep in mind this isn’t her first rodeo on a plane and she’s been flying since she was 6 weeks old, so we had plenty of snacks, movies, books etc but nothing helped. She was literally screaming full blast for two hours tugging at her ears saying “mommy hurt”…which clearly broke my heart and had us both bawling our eyes out for a good hour on the plane. Sad day. When we got to Dallas we went right to urgent care and they confirmed our suspicions…a double ear infection for our sweet girl. Luckily it was just that, and the antibiotics kicked in over night. While there, we got to spend lots of QT with our nieces and family, got to indulge in obscene amounts of Tex Mex (and mambo-taxis, for you Texans), BBQ, shopping, and I even got to hang out with my sweet girlfriends who I’ve missed so very much. On the next leg of the trip, we rented a car and made the 6 hour drive to Louisiana to spend Christmas with my family. My mom does an amazing job decorating our house for Christmas…I promise to post a full tour of their house soon! We always go to Mass on Christmas eve and celebrate after with my moms family. It’s my favorite night of the year. p.s. I’m (once again) wearing this amazing black jumpsuit that will be on the blog in more detail later this week….I’m flat out obsessed with it! On Christmas morning everyone comes to our house to open gifts. It’s my absolute favorite time. True story, I used to wake everyone up between 3-4 am every year to open gifts….even long after I knew Santa was a hoax. THIS was a huge hit THIS was an even bigger hit…guitar with a microphone. Many renditions of “twinkle twinkle” and “let it go” ensued. Christmas Day we spent at my parents and had my sweet grandparents over for a big late lunch. You can still shop my dress HERE. I GOT A NEPHEW!!!!! Can you get over his cuteness?! He’s so perfect and snuggly and sweet and I miss his yummy baby breath so much already. These curls make my heart so happy. Just like her daddy…. My mom put these pretend i-phones in their stockings and I kid you not they didn’t put them down (and still haven’t). They both walked around holding conversations on them all day. Landry’s convo consisted of “Hello. Gigi? Call you. Bye” ….hahaha! This photo will be framed. It’s my favorite. Dan flew home after Christmas and LK and I got to stay in Louisiana a few more days enjoying LA. We got back NYE and set all of Landry’s Santa gifts up. Sadly, I don’t have any photos from the morning, but there were some priceless videos of her face lighting up when she saw the loot. I’ll share all of her favorites soon, because they also make great birthday gifts. It felt so good to write this post and share a little of my heart and the people who make me the happiest. I hope that you had a great Holiday and I can’t wait to be back in action this week! Shop the Post: < >
