Cheers to February! February 3, 2014 | We are still recovering from sweet LK’s 1st birthday party over here. To say that it was perfect wouldn’t do it justice. All of her sweet friends and their parents showed up, she loved getting to see and play with everyone all in one place and ya’ll she LOVED the smash cake. It was so sweet and seeing her light up when everyone sang “Happy Birthday” almost made my heart explode. There are no words to describe how grateful we are for our sweet friends in Charlotte who have embraced us with open arms and have made our first year with LK (and away from all of our friends and family) such a joy. So, thank you, even though that doesn’t seem like enough! I woke up excited this morning and thought that since I didn’t have a pretty mood board to share with you that I would simply share some happy! It’s February! And February is my favorite month…here’s why: First comes LK’s birthday! The big ONE! I’m sure you’re sick of it, but we are celebrating alllll week….because at our house one is a big deal 🙂 dessert table sneaky sneak The birthday girl and her smash cake….trying to drink it like a sippy cup. That’s my girl! It’s Carnival Season! Even though I’m not in Louisiana to celebrate, Mardi Gras makes me happy. And of course that also means….KING CAKE. Seriously, one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I am dying just thinking about it. So anyone who wants to UPS me one…preferably a chocolate or cream cheese filled one from Meche’s, you are in for some serious brownie points. In the meantime, I am thinking about trying to make my own. Has anyone tried this? Send me your fav recipes! And if you are yet to try King Cake, do yourself a favor and google search if any bakeries in your town have them. Thank me later 😉 image via Next, is Valentine’s Day! I don’t care what you think….I love it. Hallmark Holiday or not, who am I to turn down a sweet card, pretty flowers, and an excuse to eat chocolate. Um I’ll take it all, thanks. Rounding up my favorite Valentine’s Day crafts for the littles later this week. And, am I the only one who still likes these? They are disappearing quick and it’s making me nervous! Next, it’s my birthday! The last year of my twenties begins in a few weeks and it’s really got me thinking. Will share all of those thoughts later, but there are some things that I want to accomplish before the big 3-0 and I can’t wait to get started on that bucket list! We also have a fun trip planned to finally meet a sweet baby girl down in Austin! Can’t wait for good friends, good margs, warmer temps and the Texas sky! Lastly, am I the only one getting SO excited about Spring fashion?! With MBFW looming, I am dying to see the street fashions hitting NYC and cannot wait to get to shopping. Last year, I hardly bought ANY new clothes for Spring, as I had just given birth to LK and the LAST thing I felt like doing was trying on new clothes. This Spring I am ready for some fun updates. I can live with the midi-top sticking around, am overly excited about more jumpsuits, and the boho in me loves the crochet and fringe….but I will NOT give into the shower shoe trend. Not happening. What are you most excited about for spring? image via So there it was…my little dose of happy on your Monday morning! What’s ruffling your feathers these days? Good to chat again and I promise I’m back this week! Missed you.
