Bright and Bold Baby Girl Nursery Design April 6, 2017 | Ahhh this is SUCH an exciting post! I’ve been DYING to finally share our bright and bold baby girl nursery design with you guys and today is finally the day!! If this is your first time here WELCOME (if not, skip to paragraph two lol)! I’m Mallory and this is a Life + Style blog where I make it my mission to present fashion and home decor that are both stylish AND affordable…allowing the modern millennial and beyond to live a chic lifestyle regardless of budget. I live in Charlotte, NC with my hubby, 4 year-old daughter Landry Kate (“LK”) and am currently 37 weeks pregnant with another sweet baby girl. This whole blog got started when I put Landry’s nursery out to the world wide web on a whim and that’s kind of why I’m so excited to be tackling another nursery project…they really are my favorite! See Landry’s nursery HERE and how we transitioned it to a Big Girl Room HERE. If you want to really get a feel for my design style, take a tour of our entire home HERE. Lastly, this will be my 6th (yes, SIXTH!) One Room Challenge, so if you want to catch up on reveals see them below: Calming Master Bedroom (still my favorite) | Bright Guest Room | Moody Half Bath | Living Room + Breakfast Nook | Media Room Shared Space (this one is SO old and embarrassing, but it’s always fun to see how design style evolves) Now, back to business! I’ve been planning and scheming up this nursery design for a few months now and am real excited to share it with you. I decided to unravel the plans and progress as a part of the One Room Challenge and really annoy you with a series of 6 posts leading up the the final reveal in mid-May! I went back and fourth as to whether I’d hop in this round, but as I got started, I thought that there were enough good posts that I could create to take you along on this design process with me. So, I really hope that you’ll tune in every Thursday as I give updates, DIYs and even some major sneak peeks. If you aren’t already signed up, please consider subscribing HERE and you’ll get a quick email alert with every new post that goes out, so that you don’t miss out on any of the fun! Here are a schedule of posts: Week 1: Design Plans Week 2: Updating outlets to make room for baby gadets with Le Grande and Adorne Week 3: DIY- Updating an Ikea Dresser with O’verlays Week 4: DIY- Making your own upholstered cornice boards Week 5: Art Selection + Framing with Framebridge Week 6: REVEAL Back to the design…geez I keep getting distracted, sorry! Since Landry’s room is so feminine and soft, I had a vision to go bolder with this room. There are still elements that I will never tire of in design for girls and those include…gold accents, florals, and gingham. You can see all 3 really present in LK’s space and I couldn’t make myself stray away from this when it came to this design…only this time they are much bolder and used in different capacities. So, essentially, the rooms “coordinate” with some of the same design elements, but really maintain personalities of their own…which is exactly what I would hope for the little gals who inhabit them 🙂 Here’s the design board: JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Dresser / O’verlays Accents Similar Lamp Sconces Wallpaper I just so happens that this new nursery will take over our guest room (sniff sniff). This is what it looked like before we completely tore it apart last week… Needless to say, every single element of the room is changing! Since I hope to have a guest room again one day, we’ve just placed everything in storage as is…which makes me feel a little better. So, here’s our punch list with a little side of #reallife… I mentioned that I’m 37 weeks pregnant, so have I gotten a few things done before this post? HECK YES. I am working a little bit ahead, BUT I can promise you that at the time of me publishing this post, the room is far far far from complete. What I have done better this time is planning…I have nearly every single thing ordered and in place. Most things are just waiting to be installed…which could take a while in and of itself. Here’s the list: Clear out room, store furniture, clean out closet | DONE Purchase Furniture (chest, closet storage, glider) | DONE Choose (and order) Wallpaper + Fabric + Paint | DONE Have custom crib skirt made | At seamstress now Install wallpaper | Installed this week Have the room painted | DONE Make + install cornice boards | Made, but not installed Buy + embellish white drapes, install | Bought, but not installed Assemble furniture + Add O’verlays | DONE (waiting on hardware) Buy + Install sconces Decide on lamp Assemble glider + choose throw pillow Recover existing ottoman Decide on art (done) + Install (not done) Decide on Rug (NO IDEA on this one…eeek) Styling accessories (nothing here either) As you can see, some of the big boxes are checked, but most of the hard work and details are yet to be completed, so wish us luck! I’m really starting to slow down, so a lot of this will be put on my sweet hubby. I’m pretty sure this won’t be complete by the time our sweet girl arrives, but really all you need is a rock and play and diapers for a new baby, right? #thatswhatIkeeptellingmyself I’d love it if you followed along on Instagram, as I will be keeping everyone updated on our progress via Instastories! Thanks again for joining me during this Challenge, I’m so thrilled to complete a new room and hopefully meet some new virtual friends! If this is your first time here, make sure to come back tomorrow because every Friday I write a really fun post called The Friday Edit and it’s often my favorite post of the week! Now, check out what rooms the other linking participants are making over…there are some amazing spaces HERE.
Brittany Wise says April 6, 2017 at 5:30 AM While your guest room is lovely, the nursery will be beautiful! It’s always fun to plan a fun space but still reflects your own tastes! I know that was my favorite part of designing our own nurseries. 🙂
Cassie Bustamante says April 6, 2017 at 6:57 AM oh i love this plan SOOOO much!!! bold and unique and fun! that plum- love! i can see a moroccan shag (i know they are overdone, but the softness, texture and neutrality would be perfect. And if you wanna keep it bold, I could also see a muted teal overdyed rug in there…. no matter what… awesomeness.
Style Your Senses says April 6, 2017 at 9:19 PM Love those rug suggestions…Thanks mama!!! Excited to be hopping in and working on this together…cheers! xo

Janae says April 6, 2017 at 9:14 AM The picture above the crib would give me nightmares. Hoping it doesn’t for your sweet, new baby girl,
Style Your Senses says April 6, 2017 at 9:02 PM Janae- the only thing that’s giving me nightmares is the fact that I’m raising girls in a world where there are still grown women who choose to spend a perfectly good Thursday spreading ugly comments around the internet. 🙁
Alison says April 7, 2017 at 2:14 AM Seriously….. do you even know who the artist is???She’s really well know and these paintings are EVERYWHERE. If your going to make tacky comments at least do your research. And by the way it’s not your “sweet baby girl” so why do you even care?!
Jennifer Griffin says April 6, 2017 at 9:31 AM LOVE the fun, bold design. And the PURPLE! Such a sweet space for your new sweetie, can’t wait to follow along!
