Thrift Store Upcycle: #DIYSummerSchool June 18, 2015 | Hi Friends! Back today with a super duper easy thrift store upcycle as part of #DIYSummerSchool. Today Beth of designPOST asked us to find something from a local thrift store and share an easy DIY or upcycle involving that item. Now, mine is certainly NOT rocket science, but it’s more about looking at thrift store treasures a little closer and understanding their potential. I came across this little $2 brass tray (with amazing bamboo details) at a thrift store when I was home in Louisiana. It’s actually engraved and was presented as a trophy for a food cook off in the 80’s…isn’t that funny?! I knew that with a little bit of brass polish, this beauty would shine up perfectly as a great piece to style around my home. The entire project was around $8 and I just adore my new tray. With a little bit of googling, I also found an identical tray on Etsy for $90, and THIS one for nearly $200…so I feel really good about my shined up $2 treasure!
