Athleisure Capsule Wardrobe January 12, 2017 | Hi gals! I told you that this week would be all about Athleisure on the blog…it’s kind of all I want to wear right now, so it’s a good fit. I also asked via Instagram what YOU wanted to see more of and SO many of you said Athleisure wear, so here ya go! First things first, are you new to this made up word?? Ha! Let’s break it down. Athleisure = Athletic + Leisure and wikipedia tells us that this is the urban definition: Athleisure is a trend in fashion in which clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as during work, casual or social occasions.[1][2] Athleisure outfits are yoga pants, tights and leggings[3] that “look like athletic wear” and are characterized as “fashionable, dressed up sweats and exercise clothing”. Today I’ve rounded up 30 of my top picks for Athleisure wear, why I love and wear them myself, what to style them with and how to round out the trend with a few active accessories. Most pieces are also under $100, which makes it easier to build up a few looks that you can mix up. You can consider this a bit of an “Athleisure Capsule Wardore.” I’m also having a bit of a serious conversation about underwear…you’ve been warned! JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content. Sports Bras Sports Bras can be a little tricky when it comes to Athleisure, especially if you have a cup size higher than a B cup. You want some element of cute, but also want true support that could take you through a workout. One and two are really to wear with backless sweatshirts and number three is something that could get you through a workout, too! One | $39.00 Two | $48.00 Three | $39.00 Socks I won’t spend much time on socks (#boring), but I did want to share my favorites. I love these Nike socks with the tabs on the heel. They help to avoid blisters and socks slipping down into your shoe. Four | $10.00 Active Tanks When I’m looking for active tanks that can also function for athleisure, I personally don’t love really tight tanks. Do I wear them sometimes, yes! But, tanks that flow away from the body are less likely to show tons of sweat and a cute front tuck styles them up to be worn outside of the gym. Number 7 is definitely my top pick…it’s Nike’s “Boyfriend” style and it cuts in to flatter the shoulders, but flows away from the mid-section. Five | $58.00 Six | $38.00 Seven | $30.00 Undies Okay girls, we are going to have a conversation here. I’m a little nervous, because I’m terrified of offending anyone but…we’ve got to put a stop to wearing granny panties with tights. It’s just not a good look and calls attention to a situation that most of us would rather not call attention to. Even if you don’t wear them all of the time, when you’re thinking about throwing on your yoga pants or athletic tights for the day…opt for a seamless thong. I’m listing my three personal favorites below. Eight and nine are great everyday low rise fits, that usually sit right within the waist band of your tights, so it’s perfect. Number ten is a high rise support pair that actually does some nipping and tucking of the midsection so that you can avoid muffin top that’s sometimes created by undies. These are also great for postpartum. Eight | $13.00 Nine | $10.50 Ten | $18.00 Top Layers Top layers are really the best way to style up your athleisure look! Look for wrap fronts, a cool graphic, back details and versatility. My top layers are some of my absolute favorite pieces in my closet because I reach for them for so many things…grocery store, school drop-off, gym on a cool morning…you name it…they get SO much wear! My favorites are 13, 14, 15 (I own them all personally). Eleven | $79.00 Twelve | $70.00 Thirteen | $55.00 Fourteen | $89.00 Fifteen | $88.00 Outerwear These two heavier pieces are also staples in my lineup. You guys know the versatility of a quilted vest and you also know how dang much I wear this poncho! Sixteen | $65.00 Seventeen | $99.00 Tech Accessories Fun (and pretty) ways to keep you accountable!!! I always find that I’m more motivated when I track my activity. Some days I don’t realize how little movement I get in, so knowing I’m really behind on steps almost always forces me into an afternoon walk. I’m dying for #18, because you could actually just layer it up with your wrist stack whether you’re dressed up or down. Eighteen | $129.95 Nineteen | $295.00 Twenty | $199.95 Sneakers You guys know my obsession with casual sneakers lately. I wear them with everything and totally loving being comfortable AND on trend! The good news is that brands are finally getting a clue from moms who want functionality and are straying away from the neon brights and going much more black, white and metallic…which makes me so happy! If I’m wearing an athleisure outfit (that I also want to wear to the gym later), I want a clean and modern black and white (or grey) sneaker with it. Below are my favorites that offer a clean look for casual or gym wear. Twenty One | $59.95 Twenty Two | $99.95 Twenty Three | $79.95 Twenty Four | $100.00 Twenty Five | $99.00 Hydration I talked yesterday about my S’Well bottle and I think that they are the chicest thing to take to the gym. Remember this post when I showed you how to personalize them?? Twenty Six | $25.00 Twenty Seven | $25.00 Active Bottoms If you’ve read more than one post around here, you know that I absolutely live in Zella Leggings (29 + 30). They are the best quality (think heavier duty, plus lots of nips and tucks) for the price! I’ve also been asked what leggings I wear to actually run in and it’s (#28) Nike hands down. Their compression fit is amazing for being really active without things jiggling around everywhere. Twenty Eight | $79.88 Twenty Nine | $59.00 Thirty | $54.00 Tell me, what are your favorite ways to wear Athleisure???
