What I’m Wearing For Christmas + a Family Recipe December 19, 2016 | Good Monday Morning, Friends! Sorry that this post is up so late, but if you saw last night’s Instagram Stories…you know why…ha! This mama was up wayyyy past her bedtime and had entirely too much fun at the hubs’ work Christmas party. There’s always amazing entertainment each year and this year was no exception…T.I. was the star of the show and if you know anything about me, you know that I was up in the front row singing every word with my big pregnant belly. Dan just stands back and giggles and I literally have the time of my life reliving my college glory days. Anywayyy, I’m sneaking in some screen time to finish this post before we are wheels up on our Christmas adventure this afternoon! Today I’m sharing what I’m wearing for Christmas Eve (now on major sale!) and one of our FAVORITE Christmas recipes that you seriously have got to try! Dress (40% off!) | Earrings | Dainty Gold Cuff | (My Favorite) Opaque Tights | Booties When I saw this little fit and flare dress, I knew that it would be perfect for Christmas Eve OR Christmas Day and she’s now neatly packed in my suitcase and ready for either occasion! It’s a very fine knit sweater dress, making it perfect for a more “dressy” event and, while the silhouette is simple, it has the most darling girly details. The mock turtleneck is not constrictive and the darling pleated bell sleeves are probably my favorite part. It fits throughout the bodice without adding any bulk and then gently swings out to hit right above the knee. Such a flattering and feminine dress…that’s also now 40% OFF!!!!! Seriously, for around $77 this is a great dress to add to your closet and will be perfect for winter events or Sunday best. If you order today, you can easily have it by Christmas Eve with free shipping…this is a win!! The bump is now a staple on the blog! Such a great reminder that no earthly gift under a tree could possibly compare to this little gift from heaven being knit in my belly… Turn on your JavaScript to view content Gorgeous Gift Wrap: Turn on your JavaScript to view content You can see a little bit of the flare here. It’s not a true “skirt,” But does swing nicely away from the body when you move, which I can always appreciate. I’m wearing a M here and feel like it runs true to size. I’m going to tell you the name and the details and I just know that you will make a funny face because honestly they don’t sound all the appetizing (to me, at least), but you will HAVE to trust me on this one and try them! My mom makes “Date Balls” every single year for Christmas and it never fails that either a.) someone finds the stash of them before Christmas Eve and eats the majority before anyone can get to them or b.) we are all standing around the table fighting over the last few of them. They are that good friends…and SO easy to make! I made them for a friend dinner the other night and they said that they tasted like designer rice crispy treats…which is kind of a good way to put it. Seriously, make them and report back…I PROMISE that they won’t disappoint! What you need: 1 box (or bag) of chopped dates (8oz) 3/4 cup of sugar 1 stick butter 1 1/2 cups of rice crispies 1 cup of nuts (we have ALWAYS used pecans) Powdered Sugar (in a bowl) Directions: -Combine butter, sugar and dates in a saucepan over medium to high heat and stir until they all melt together. Surprisingly, the dates melt into the mixture, but there will still be small chunks left. -Once everything combines, stir in rice crispies -Finally, fold in the nuts and remove from heat -While still hot (coat your hands with butter) roll into 1” balls packed firm and them roll around in powdered sugar. Place on parchment paper to cool. –
