A Guide to Wearing This Season’s Hottest Boots! October 13, 2016 | *This post was sponsored by Zappos. All selections, styling ides, content and photography are my own. Thank you for supporting brands who make Style Your Senses possible! Today I’m teaming up with Zappos to share a guide to wearing this seasons hottest Dolce Vita boots for Fall. After my Fall Finds post on Boots, I got lots of questions about what to wear each pair with and how to make them work for busy moms, so today I’m taking all of the guess work out of wondering what to wear each style with and even thinking outside of the box to make each pair of boots work overtime for you in your closet this winter. You guys all know that Dolce Vita is 100% hands down my favorite shoe brand, especially for boots. I’m a huge believer in the quality, I love how on-trend their selection is and I appreciate their always affordable price points. So, today I’m taking 3 of my favorite current Dolce Vita silhouettes (ankle booties, mid calf booties and over the knee boots) and sharing some tips on how to style each! Ankle Booties | Mid Calf Booties | Over the Knee Boots Let’s start with these ankle booties. To be completely honest, I’ve been very very VERY slow to adopt the ankle boot trend, because I’ve never felt like my ankles are any place that I’d like to direct attention. I’ve assumed ankle booties would hit me at the wrong place and would be overall unflattering…and, thankfully, I was wrong! When I saw these ankle booties, I was very intrigued because I liked the shape (the pointed toe gives the illusion of a longer leg) and the slight heel (another way to make the legs appear longer). When I got them in, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the mouth of the shoe is wide and loose around the ankle, actually making my ankles appear smaller. They are also slip on….amen, right?! I’ve been wearing these NON-STOP since I got them in, so here are some styling tips… Dolce Vita Ankle Booties (They come in 8 different colors!!!) Dusty Rose Off the Shoulder Dress | Blanket Scarf | Hat | Earrings | Sunnies | Booties I decided to style these booties with a trend dress to show a little more of their versatility. On a day to day basis, I’ve been throwing them on with skinny jeans or tights and a tunic to take Landry to school, but I also love how they look a little more dressed up. Like I mentioned, I was a little hesitant to wear them with bare legs, but totally love how they look with this dress. How cute is this outfit for an outdoor concert, trip to the pumpkin patch or even brunch with girlfriends?! Also, this color turned out to be perfect with my skin tone, because it really makes them work double duty in the leg elongation department. Kind of like the nude heel of booties 😉 Additional Ways to Style Ankle Booties: -Skinny jeans and a cute boho blouse -Tights and a tunic top -Tights and a poncho -Skinny jeans and a vintage t-shirt for a super laid back look …truly the options are limitless here, these will absolutely be your closet “go-to” Next up, these fab Mid Calf Booties in grey suede. I was probably most excited to style these, just because mid calf booties are totally my jam this season! Typically, I’ve been styling mid calf booties for you guys with dresses, so I mixed it up here to show you how versatile they are and am showing how I styled them with skinny jeans. A few things to know about Mid Calf Booties: -They are flattering on any leg shape. -Opt for mid calf booties with a more snug fit so they keep their shape and stay in place (these fit the bill). -Don’t be afraid to dress them down, or even wear them under your favorite flares! -If you have a few classic pairs of boots that you are carrying over from last season, buying a mid calf bootie is a great way to infuse some trend into your line-up. Dolce Vita Mid Calf Ankle Bootie in Grey Suede (also available in Black Suede + Oxblood Suede) The details on these booties are some of my favorites. The stitching gives them a slight western feel (which we all know I am a total sucker for) and the tie at back and distressed wooden block heel all add to the “cool” factor! Also, check out the ariel view here to see the toe shape…we all know I love a good pointed toe to make your legs look longer. Off the Shoulder Tunic Sweater (great price) | Skinnies | Booties | Crossbody Bag| Leopard Tassel | Sunnies Here I’m styling my mid calf booties with an oversized off the shoulder tunic sweater, which made for a fun play on proportions compared to the slim lines of the skinny jeans and ankle booties. I would wear this outfit for a Fall date night or dinner out with girlfriends. To make it more day time appropriate, you simply switch out the off the shoulder sweater for a cute blouse or boyfriend sweater. Other Ways To Style Mid Calf Booties: -With tights and a tunic -Skinny jeans, a cute blouse and a trench vest. -Tights and a boyfriend sweater -A boho midi dress -Skinny jeans and a standard button up to work within your #momiform -A sweater dress Last, but certainly NOT least, these yummy suede over the knee boots! I was really excited to style these babies, because I’ve gotten tons of questions about over the knee boots and they are almost all centered around the versatility of them compared to the investment. Most of you have it in your minds that over the knee automatically means “dressy” and are hesitant to invest in a pair of boots that don’t offer everyday wear, which I totally get. Initially, the over the knee silhouette was largely done with a heel, giving them that more dressed up vibe…clearly I’m not about to go to carpool line in heeled over the knee boots…a little much, no? Now, thankfully, that silhouette has really evolved and they’ve taken on more of a riding boot shape, with extended height to make them over the knee. The updated style is taking on the versatility of a riding boot, yet you still have the trend factor in the over the knee height, making them wearable everyday and well worth the investment. I’m in love with the new look and could not even wait to show you guys this pair! Dolce Vita Over the Knee Boots To style these, I really went for the dressed down look, to prove how casual they can be. I found this faux layered sweater (aka it’s only one piece) that’s perfect for busy mamas and threw it on with skinny jeans and then added these boots to really take this super plain outfit to the next level. They add such great texture and interest and I’m obsessed over this suede color. They are somewhere between a cognac and a brown and are actually a little lighter in real life…a great neutral for everyday wear. Other Ways to Wear Over the Knee Boots: -Tights and this same tunic look -Tights and an oversized sweater -A cute dress (the pink one from above is perfect) -Skinny jeans and a button up -A simple t-shirt and an oversized blanket scarf -Tights and a puffer vest Layered Tunic (great price) | Skinnies | Crossbody Bag | Sunnies | OTK Boots I styled all of these looks keeping in mind all 3 pairs of boots, essentially making it so each pair of boots works with all 3 outfits. So, if you have a favorite pair of boots from the post, you can easily visualize them 3 ways. Make sense? I wanted to really show off the versatility of each pair and give you a guide to refer back to when looking for ideas on how to style each. Happy Boot Shopping, y’all! *This post was written in partnership with Zappos. All selections, styling ides, content and photography are my own.
