A Big Girl Room for Landry Kate February 28, 2016 | Hi Friends! How was your weekend?? Ours was great…and very productive! If you followed along on Snapchat, you saw that we hopped back and fourth from project to project and thankfully got a TON of stuff done. I’m about 80% done with our playroom + office makeover and about 50% done with a big girl room for Landry Kate! As I was posting sneaks, a few of you asked if I had posted any official plans for her new room…and whoops…I haven’t! So here I am today, posting some quick plans to give you a general idea about how the room is changing (and what’s staying the same). On a more personal note, it was a big week for our girl. She threw away her pacifier…yep, she had it until she was 3…and hasn’t looked back. I asked what she’d like now that she was a big girl and she promptly answered “a big girl room.” I cringed a little, but smiled and said that we could make that happen. So, we spent Saturday gathering the necessities for a big girl bed and finally took her crib down. I was so super emotional about it. Seeing Dan taking it down wearing the exact same backwards ball cap that he wore when he put it up and thinking that in the blink of an eye three whole years of life have passed. Three short years ago I didn’t know who Landry was and now that season of my life has come and gone and now she’s an independent, growing, beautiful little girl and I’ll never get that baby back. I sat in her empty room for a good 20 minutes and just cried. When I finally pulled myself together, we set up her bed and watching her light up as she saw it for the first time was such a joy. If you need a nursery refresher, you can see my first ever nursery post HERE or see the most recent one HERE. It’s hands down my favorite room that I’ve ever worked on, and if we’re being honest, it’s the reason that this blog is anything. It was one of my very first posts almost 3 years ago and some how some way, people found it and they kept coming back. The room is so much more than floral wallpaper for me…it was the beginning of a whole new chapter in my life…a chapter of being a mother and a blogger and learning to balance. The best 3 years of my life. Can you tell I’m emotionally attached?!?! #watchoutforthecrazylady Here are the plans for how we will transition it into a big girl room: -Replace crib with a full sized bed -Refinish bamboo regency heard board (Craigslist score!) -Remove Glider, Small night stand, gallery walls -Remove monogram over the crib, replace with updated art -Move dresser to opposite wall -Find side tables + Lamps -Add small makeup vanity + play area See the mood board for a visual (it’s shoppable, too!) Hopefully, I can wrap it up over the next 3 weeks to share with you by the end of March. Honestly, why can’t they stay babies forever? I’m having a hard time with this! And, yes, yes, I know…have another one…that’s everyone’s response. All in God’s timing 🙂
