Weekend Happenings October 21, 2013 | Not going to lie our weekend was pretty un-eventful and I liked it. Saturday morning I was up early for a Holiday mini and actually got to sneak off for a solo Starbucks run and even pop into World Market and Marshalls. What did you guys think of my Instagram finds? Now I’m on the hunt for the perfect holiday bundt cake for those precious mini pans. Do you have a favorite that might work? Please share! Side note: what do we think about Starbucks+LaBoulange ? It looks yummy and all, but I feel like the rug was just pulled from under me. Just one day out of the blue you take away my pumpkin bread, lowfat banana chocolate chip bread AND my petite vanilla scones?! I’m kinda upset. No doubt I’ll give the other goodies a try and will report back on this. Okay I digress, back to the weekend. After more mini-session goodness, I treated myself to some alone time…at the grocery store nonetheless. I browsed the aisles, took forever picking just the right produce….it was glorious. Then I came home and made baby food all night…rockin’ Saturday night, right? Sunday we had a very special second birthday party to attend. Sweet sweet Nicholas turned TWO and we celebrated at the pumpkin patch. Hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin picking and cupcakes…oh my! But for real…he and LK have a thing. They heart each other. Like I’m talking googly eyes, lots of sweet kisses, puppy love, heart each other. It’s so precious. is he not the cutest?! While we were gone I had a new recipe going in the crock pot and oh my it turned out amazing! I’ve seen in floating around on Pinterest for a while now and finally decided to try it…Mississippi Roast. See the recipe and Pin below: Ya’ll it was SO good. Super tender and full of flavor. I served it over rice and we will probably make sandwiches with it later in the week. The $20 roast will probably make 4+ meals for two. Whohooo! You should surely try this one…your hubs will be impressed! We finished off the weekend with a family trip to Lowes (always interesting!) to get plywood for the headboard and cornice box for the One Room Challenge. Hopefully we can get these together for this weeks update. Off to the fabric store today…wish me luck! Hope that you guys had a great weekend and are making it through Monday just fine!
