#DIYSummerSchool: DIY Tassel Necklace! July 23, 2015 | Here we are again with another project as part of designPost Interiors DIY Summer School!! This week’s theme is “Craft Store” and we were challenged to create a project strictly from items found at your local craft store. There are tons of possibilites, but I kept coming back to jewelry, since you guys love it as much as I do! If you’ve been following the blog for a LONG time you might remember these DIY Tassel Necklaces from two years ago? I thought that since tassels are still all the rage, it was time to update the DIY. So, here’s a new way make everyone’s favorite necklace! Once you get the hang of stringing the beads, it should only take about 10 minutes and costs under $10! You need: -Beads. We mixed wooden + Glass -Cording -Embroidery Floss -Sewing Needles -Tape Measure -Gold wire (optional) Steps: 1. Choose your desired pattern and separate beads into appropriate piles 2. Measure 45” of cording and cut 3. Thread the cording through the needle 4. 1-2″ from where the end where you plan to start the pattern, tie off a triple knot to hold the bead sin place 5. Using your needle, begin threading the beads on in your desired pattern 6. Once you are finished beading, knot off the finished end and tie the two ends together at the center 6. Cut the embroidery floss in half and fold over the center tie of the necklace 7. Wrap the fold over with floss or wire to tie it off and make the tassel VOILA! No time to DIY?
