Master Bedroom = Finished!

Instead of a pretty mood board, today I’m sharing our Master BR with you. One more room that I feel confident in saying is DONE! Hallelujah! The Master has been a very very slow work in progress, as I had a vision in mind but did not want to rush into it. This new home is different in almost every single way from our 1950’s Ranch in Dallas, but the Master BR is probably the most notable difference. We went from 8ft ceilings and and less than 12 feet wide, to (what we consider) a ginormous space with vaulted ceilings. We were used to such a cozy space (honestly too cozy, in the old house), so I needed to come up with a “design” that scaled the room down so that it felt romantic and relaxing. Just like the rest of the house (and to my demise), we plan to leave the neutral walls as they are since we won’t be in this house long. Scroll down for more details…

First things first, we bought a king size bed to take up a good chunk of the focal wall…and not going to lie…I love it. We DIY’d that huge upholstered headboard to draw the eye up and bought two rather large chest of drawers from IKEA (added the gold pulls) to compliment the scale of the room and actually serve as great storage. The duvet and shams were a Horchow score a few years back and I still love the neutral background with pops of color…I chose to pull out the rich slate blue with the dupioni silk euro shams. I also added more interest to the bed (honestly, there’s nothing I love than a well-made bed with lots of fluffy stacked pillows) with the striped euros (via Homegoods), the patterned throw pillows, as well as the monogrammed accent pillows. The quilt was also a great find at Stein Mart and has held up (and washed) SO well for it’s $40 price tag. The lamps are from JcPenney and given height my moi. The mirrors are from Homegoods ($39/each!), and I love the dental molding accent as well as the bevel, it dresses them up a bit, but not over the top. The prints above the bed were a gift from my mom and sis and are still one of my favorite things ever. I love the matting color, the distressed gold frames, and the Parisian scenes make me happy. The large chest is a hand me down that I painted. The gold Moroccan garden stools were another Homegoods find…I nearly fainted when I saw the pair….I love them! The rug is an old treasure that I found at TjMaxx.  And last but certainly NOT least, we promptly trashed the oh-so-ugly white ceiling fan in favor of this rustic chandelier from. Originally black, I found it on clearance at Lowe’s (for $50!) and gave her a little update with spray paint. I like how the more harsh lines of the light fixture contrast the softness of the room. We truly love the room, and while it’s based largely around a neutral palette, the pops of color make me happy, while not overwhelming. And as you can tell all done on a major budget.
