One Room Challenge: Master Bedroom Makeover | THE REVEAL! November 11, 2015 | What a fun ride these last 6 weeks have been and what a true honor to be included in such a talented group. As always, the One Room Challenge has been just that…CHALLENGING….but it’s also been fun, and wildly rewarding. For this challenge, I stepped outside of my comfort zone which is full of bright color and bold pattern (ironic that that’s comfortable for me, right?) and into a mostly neutral color palette and lots of plays on texture. Even though it’s a different aesthetic for me, it’s exactly how I want to feel in our bedroom…relaxed and calm. We absolutely love the finished room and are excited to share it with you today. If you’re new, catch up on the 6 week process here to see how it all came together… Week One | Read about my plans Week Two | Read about my paint dilemma Week Three | Lamps + Mirror Deets Week Four | Paint Color + Great Sources Week Five | Odds and Ends + Art Let’s take a quick look at where we started (builder beige blah) + the plans for this master bedroom makeover: After 6 weeks reworking the space, here’s where we landed (pardon the photo overload). OUR MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER Chandelier | Bellacor We haven’t talked about the light yet, so can we just have a moment with it, please? I mean is it not to.die.for?!! Bellacor was so nice to partner with me on the chandelier and they had top notch customer service throughout the entire process. I chose this 9 light Savoy House beauty and am still dying over it. It gives off the most beautiful white light (the white glass shades really help) and is big enough for the space, but doesn’t overwhelm it. Check out Bellacor’s lighting selection, I promise they are a true one stop shop. Carpet ( Karastan ) I had no idea that the carpet would make such a difference in the room. It brightens it up so much from the bottom up and I love the subtle pattern! Bedding | Campaign Chests (both on sale) MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER DETAILS: Bedding | Campaign Chests (both on sale) | Velvet Lumbar Pillow | Art ( Miles Purvis Art ) I can’t get over how much I love the art by Miles. I gave her a small i-phone photo of my color scheme and she blindly came up with this incredible piece that is beyond perfect for the space. SO thankful that she shared her talent with us! MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER DETAILS: Winged Headboard ( At Home Stores ) | Lamps ( Bassett Mirror Company ) MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER DETAILS: Bedding | Campaign Chests (both on sale) | Velvet Lumbar Pillow | Bench ( At Home Stores ) MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER DETAILS: Bedding | Campaign Chests (both on sale) | Velvet Lumbar Pillow MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER DETAILS: Bamboo Mirrors ( At Home ) | Full Length Mirror ( Bassett Mirror Company ) Drapes ( totally custom for this wierd wall and so beautiful ) THIS is the piece I had hope to surprise you guys with for this space, but when I got it in it was simply too deep. Keeping it for another project, though! The console that I ended up using was a thrift store score! Can you believe this orchid is faux? Want to make your own identical arrangement for under $50. See THIS POST! Drapes Drapery Hardware: See Week 3 Lamps ( Bassett Mirror Company ) photography by the insanely talented Laura Sumrak…would you believe that it was nearly pitch black in this room and raining outside when we shot it?!?! Thank goodness she’s a genius… Master Bedroom Makeover Full Source List: Bedding Campaign Chests | Similar Long Velvet Lumbar Pillow Carpet Art Chandelier | Similar Lamps | Similar Full Length Mirror Drapes Faux Fur Bench | Similar Bamboo Mirrors | Similar Bed | Similar Urchin | Similar Paint Color: Sherwin Williams: Balmy @ 65% …so what do you guys think of our master bedroom makeover?? Hopefully you felt as relaxed in the space as we do after a long day! Thanks so much for following along during this whirlwind challenge, you guys rock. Emily says November 12, 2015 at 9:23 PM Love it! I’m totally a neutrals gal … this speaks to me! Is there an overall budget when doing the ORC? Or is it just the time frame that makes it the most challenging? Thanks 🙂
Style Your Senses says November 13, 2015 at 2:51 AM Emily, Thanks so much! There are no guidelines on budgets. I always try to keep mine on a reasonable budget, but that’s because I don’t have a choice hehe. This go round there were also generous sponsors, so I got to get a few splurge items. In my past challenges you’ll see I kept it pretty budget friendly with lots of DIYs 😉
