My Big Hair Secret Revealed! September 29, 2015 | Hi friends! I’m finally sharing what’s changed about my hair lately and how you can get the same look! Before diving into the details, I’m going to get a little personal (which is sometimes hard for me to do on here), so bear with me. Every girl has silly insecurities, right? Something you always feel like could look better or try endlessly to perfect to no avail? Mine has ALWAYS been my hair (among many other things #realtalk). Ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamed of thicker hair with more volume and hair that would actually hold a style. Truth be told, my natural hair is thin and very fine and never quite does what I want it to. Endless teasing (my girlfriends can attest to my love affair with a good teasing comb, lol) and countless hair sprays, finishing sprays, etc and I always end up with flat hair, and that’s just not flattering…especially for my face shape. I expressed my frustration to my stylist (and sweet friend), Brooke, at a recent appointment and she really encouraged me to do something about it. To be honest, I thought that my only real options were styling techniques and had truthfully never considered extensions. I was so confused when she suggested extensions, because I thought that they had to be sewn or glued in and that makes me cringe. She explained that the kind she wanted me to try were easy to put in and take out (not permanent) and were real, quality human hair that would match well with my balayage. It’s basically a “Halo” of hair that is adjustable and fits perfectly on top of your head and you use your real hair to disguise that it’s even there. I finally agreed to give them a whirl and to say that I am obsessed with the result is a strong understatement. This was never something that I planned to share with you guys (as I thought that I might come off as fake or vain), but truly it’s made such a difference in my look and given me the hair that I’ve always wanted…so naturally, I HAD to let you in on the secret. I’m a firm believer in that you should always do what makes you feel good, so if you were in my same hair frustration boat…here ya go! Take a peek at the difference the Halo has made. Photos on the left are WITH it in, photos on the right are WITHOUT it in. Can you even get over the volume, length, and boost in color?! So here’s how it works, whether you are local to Charlotte or not. In my process (and since Brooke didn’t have a color sample ring below at the time), we went through the suggested color matching process online where you take a photo of your hair in good daylight and can compare to their online color swatches and even consult with a Halo representative to get the color perfect. If you’re local, you can make a quick appt with Brooke to match your hair compared to the color ring. My extensions came in about 7 days later and I could not even get over how great the color works with my current style. We went lighter overall, so that the ends were lighter and blended with my balayage. Okay, here’s the process of how it goes in and comes out. Of course, I do it at home with no problems, but we got Brooke to join in the photos for fun! The hair comes on a clear “fishing wire” …I say that loosely just so you know what I’m talking about…it’s actually super strong and guaranteed for the life of the extensions. You simply place the halo on top of your real hair (with the fishing line towards the front, hair around the back) and use the comb to pull your real hair out and over the wire. See below: See how thin the back of my hair is? Eeek. So this looks crazy and you’re like “whatttttt, Mallory that’s the WRONG color?!” …haha that’s what I said at first too! But we decided to go lighter so that it extends and enhances my current balayage. With my darker hair on top, you can’t tell at all. See the process here: I’ve gotten LOTS of questions from my girlfriends about them, so I’m going to try and answer the most frequently asked ones here, FYI: Q: Is it real human hair? A: YES! Is it 100% REAL Remy human hair? Q: Does it stay in place? A: YES! When the adjustable “Halo” is fit correctly, it will certainly stay in place and you can go on about your day. Your normal hair laying on top of it also helps and creates weight to hold it down? Q: Is it hard to match your color? A: NO! We did mine all online without a hair swatch. They make it super easy to get it right and have a specific process in place to match you color perfectly. They come in 20 different colors and a variety of lengths, so there’s something for everyone Q: How much do they cost? A: Prices start at $300. Might seem expensive, but compared to traditional glue in extensions that only last for about 6 weeks (and cost close to $1k), these are really reasonable. Q: Can you style them like you style your own hair? A: YEP! Curl, flat iron, wand…whatever your heart desires…treat them as you would your own hair. Just adding in that in my experience, the extensions actually stay styled much LONGER than my real hair and I only have to curl them every 2-3 wears. Q: What about washing them? A: You can do that too! Brooke also sells a specific shampoo and conditioning cream to keep the hair clean and beautiful. I know that this was such a long post…I didn’t want to leave anything out! So what do you guys think? What you were expecting? I’m so glad that I found these…I love the convenience, non-permanent wear and the way that they change up my whole look! If you are interested in learning more about them, want a consultation or want a Halo of your own, please contact Brooke here: Brooke@styleyoursenses.com Cheers, friends and thanks for letting me get a little real with you guys today!

Julia@Cuckoo4Design says September 29, 2015 at 12:50 PM Looks amazing! I so wish I could wear this too but my hair is so thin and I don’t have layers and usually an afro that’s hard for me to blow out 🙁
Jennifer @ Dimples and Tangles says September 29, 2015 at 3:26 PM I would have never thought that color would blend in so naturally! Your hair looks absolutely amazing, beautiful lady! What a great option to know about! And I’m a dork, I had to google balayage. 😉
Chrissy says October 1, 2015 at 12:15 PM I wondered how your hair got so long so fast, I thought I just wasn’t paying close enough attention- it looks so real! I have the same hair troubles, so it’s good to know these are available. Thanks for sharing!
Amanda says October 2, 2015 at 7:24 AM I have the SAME problem! My hair is so thin! Basically, I need these and wish Brooke lived here in Germany or Alaska where we will be moving next! EEK.
Amanda says October 2, 2015 at 7:25 AM p.s. After she gets it fitted at the initial appointment, is it easy enough for you to put them in and out yourself on a daily basis?
Style Your Senses says October 2, 2015 at 2:20 PM Yes, so so easy to put in. You just literally use a pin comb and pull your natural hair out and over the top! When’s the move to Alaska???!
Style Your Senses says October 3, 2015 at 5:21 PM Ok I’m definitely going to have to find a stylist who does this in Alaska! We’re moving the middle of this month!
Shannon Hall says September 1, 2016 at 8:07 PM Here is my big question with these? Are they more for special occasions or everyday use? I have a two year old and we are constantly on the go and I don’t want to bend over to pick him up and it fall out? Any advice for daily mom wear?
Style Your Senses says September 5, 2016 at 6:04 PM Shannon- I feel your pain with little ones. I don’t wear these everyday, but more for girls nights, date nights, or business meetings. If you want some more volume for everyday, clip ins might be a better option 🙂
