Beach Trip 2014

Hi, Friends! I hope that you had an amazing long weekend! There’s just something about the 4th of July Holiday that always leaves me happy. It usually means sun, beach, fireworks and food…and, well, it doesn’t get any better in my book. This year we waited until the very last minute to plan something, but I am SO glad we hit the road because we desperately needed to unplug and spend time with each other. We decided on Hilton Head Island in SC, which is only about a 3.5 hour drive from Charlotte. I must admit that I feel like in order to do the beach right, a condo is necessary (especially with little ones in tow), but the Westin HHI completely surprised me. It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL property right on the beach. I didn’t even mind that it was a hotel room, because really we had everything we needed on property anyway. We will absolutely be going back in the near future. Please pardon the photo overload…although I’m really not sorry. On Saturday night we got all dressed up for some family pics and it literally began to monsoon as we walked outside…so, scratch that, we got up super early with LK Sunday morning and did a little sunrise shoot. I love them most of all. They really captured how much she loved the ocean. Never in a million years would I have guessed that my little gal (who hates the splash pad!), would absolutely love the ocean so much. She cried everyday as she held out her little hand to tell the waves “buh-bye” when it was naptime. I am so glad that her mommy and daddy’s love of the beach was not lost on her…

Before calling CPS on us…I promise this was her first and last lollipop. The waiter gave it to her (basically to shut her up, lol) and we were both about to hyperventilate watching her eat it, but oh my the girl enjoyed it….she had no idea life could be so sweet!
