Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours: Favorite Room Edition August 25, 2014 | My favorite room…well, I’ve worked on quite a few rooms in our home at this point, but my favorite of them all is really a no brainer. For those of you who have been around a while, you are probably slightly very sick of hearing about the nursery, but I can’t help it…it really is my favorite room in our entire home. It’s my favorite because…. When I open the door every morning, there’s a bouncing baby (with the most amazing bed head) who has her arms stretched out over her sweet Jenny Lind crib reaching for me. Some nights (like last night) she wants me to rock her to sleep. And I oblige. The quiet moments of a baby falling asleep and melting onto your chest are simply priceless. We read lots of books here and we learn here. Because every morning upon waking up she insists on putting a bow and shoes on before going downstairs. What, you don’t wear a bow and shoes with you jammies?! Because the afternoon light shining through the windows and onto her strawberry blonde curls after a nap is just about the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Sure I still love the Watercolor Peony Wallpaper, but the memories we’ve made in this room will always be my most favorite thing of all. I had been itching to change a few things up, so slowly but surely I’ve updated the nursery since my initial post about it here. Well, here it is…my favorite room… One major change was this wall. Originally there were 5 vintage prints and a table lamp. The proportions always bothered me, so I decided to start over. The mini gallery wall and gold sconce make it feel fresh to me. We also love the sconce for reading bedtime stories. Another really fun and easy project was the turn the shoes that she took her first steps in (fitting that they are gold glitter Toms, right) into art for the nursery. I just glued fabric around a piece of cardboard and then glued shoes on. Literally a 2 minute project. Another big change was adding the lattice rug. It used to live in our mater bedroom, but since we are getting a new one soon, I was happy to bring this one into the nursery. It makes the space so much brighter and I love it. If you don’t know the story about the inspiration for the nursery, it was very much influenced by our trip to Paris, and this Laduree bag in particular. I was so enamoured with the ambiance there (and the macaroons, of course) and thought that it was so fitting to center a perfectly girly nursery around. I love that the bag still hangs in the nursery. The gallery wall was originally here over the changer, but since you can’t really see it when you walk into the room, it’s definitely better on the opposing wall. Once I saw this Lindsay Letters print at Hobby Lobby though, I knew it would be great for this wall though. I am obsessed with the colors (of course!), but I also love the quote “The World is Lucky to Have You”…so sweet, right? The amazing tassel garland adds the perfect touch of whimsy. To make the print a little more personal, I added gold hardware brackets to the frame, for a more custom look. The Louisiana art is actually a blanket that my sister gifted to Landry. One day it will be framed somewhere, but for now I love the color that it adds to her closet. She even monogrammed her initials on the Parish (remember Louisiana doesn’t have counties) where I am from…which happens to be St. Landry Parish…ahhhh get it? 🙂 This little situation makes me happy… Fun idea…use an old mannequin to display bows and headbands. I also left my wedding veil on to display. And this my friends, is why I love this room so much.
