What to Wear: Family Photos October 21, 2014 | As the Holidays approach at lightening speed (how is it almost November??!!), there’s one thing that I get asked about ALL of them time….”What should we wear for family photos??” Since I offer Holiday mini-sessions, I am probably asked this more often than not, and I wanted to share some inspiration with you this year in case you are scratching your head wondering the same thing. I will say, it’s a tricky formula…not too bold, not to muted, not too many prints, but not too boring…it’s clear why it stressed so many mamas out. Here’s what I tell my peeps: -Stick to a neutral base (black, navy or cream) to run throughout -Use one color family as accent colors (here I used blues). -When in doubt, wear dark denim. It’s already flattering. -Use pattern in small, strategic doses to show that you still have some flair. For ex: Leopard heels or a patterned shirt under a solid sweater. -Don’t be afraid to accessorize. You shouldn’t lose your personailty when taking pics. -Layering is always a good idea. Ladies, throw on a sweater and guys, wear a nice blazer on top…these layers add the perfect touch of cozy to Holiday photos. Here’s a fun mood board for a family who still wants to look a little trendy and not too matchy, but still coordinating and cool. Shop: Mom: Sweater: J. Crew Button Up: J.
