Mommy + Me Fall Style

Good Morning! How are you guys? Gosh yesterday was just rough. I can’t really come up with the words to explain how sick and heartbroken I feel for these poor, innocent people. I snuggled my people a lot tighter yesterday and just prayed over the girls that I could continue teaching them love and kindness and tolerance and continue leading them back to Jesus today and everyday.

On a brighter note, my big girl is joining us on the blog today! She’s established quite a loyal fan base over on Instagram with her famous dance moves and funny banter, so I asked (begged) if she’d hop in a blog post with me and share some Q+A. She agreed and doesn’t disappoint!

It’s hard to even being to put into words how much I love this kid. She’s made me a better person in every way imaginable and watching her grow up is the absolute joy of my life. She’s kind and thoughtful and hilarious. She’s bold and confident, but also shy and silly. She’s constantly dancing and singing and I pray that she never loses her outgoing spirit and confidence in herself. She’s always been my best girl, but observing her become a big sister to little Lawson has filled my heart with more joy than I ever thought possible.

I wanted to capture some Q+A at this sweet spot age of 4.5. The questions are simple, the answers are silly and I just want to freeze her in time.

Landry what do you want to be when you grow up? A singer and a cheerleader

Oh that’s awesome! How will you do both? I do singing in the morning and then tonight I be the cheerleader.

What’s your favorite thing that mommy packs in your lunchbox? Turkey and cheese sammy

What’s your favorite thing to do with mommy? Go at the Disney store

What’s your favorite thing to do with Daddy? Go to his work! Because it has a basketball and I can draw on the white board.

Are you so happy that we have baby Lawson? Yes! Because I love her and asked Jesus for her.

p.s. we LOVE these inexpensive tulle skirt dresses. She’s had them every year since she was two and we can’t get enough. Great to wear as a dress with leggings or layer a sweater over and wear it as a skirt. She loves the way they “twirl” and I love the prices 😉 Win Win!

What does Lawson do that you think is funny? She laughs at my dancing.

Do you help mommy change poopy diapers? No way!

What’s your favorite outfit to wear? A red dress!

What’s your favorite hairstyle? “Braid Touch” aka dutch braids lol

What’s your favorite movie? Sing and Trolls

What’s your favorite song to dance to? Belle

She really loves to pretend that she’s Belle in the opening scene of Beauty and the Beast. It’s the cutest darn thing!

What’s your favorite place to eat? Chuys

She does love a good guac!

What’s your favorite food to eat? Pancakes

What’s your favorite TV show? Wheel of Fortune

It’s hysterical to watch her guess letters. Also, Vanna is her idol.

Quite a few people have reached out to me asking about Landry’s transition to being a big sister and how we still spend QT with her and here are a few things that we like to do…

-First, I would say that it’s easy to get lazy and shift your focus to the baby. Landry is pretty self sufficient and doesn’t *need* me for a ton of things anymore, but instead of just letting her watch TV while I feed the baby…I ask her to bring her colors in the nursery and we draw pictures. Or I will sit in her playroom while I nurse Lawson and we can play “restaurant” or other fun games that keep her active and allow me to sit.

-Plan one on one time. This takes extra effort on both Dan and I’s part but we really make a point to plan out one on one time with Landry weekly. Her and I will usually sneak out for a manicure or a solo trip to Starbucks and the grocery store once a week to catch up and Dan always makes a point to take her to the park alone at least once over the weekend. She loves the solo time and focused attention…and we do as well.

-Start will traditions. Friday is “pancake day” around our house and she wakes up ready to help me make chocolate chip pancakes that her and I share before school. It’s our thing and she feels super involved and looks forward to it weekly.

-I also find that praising her positive interaction with Lawson is so key. She’s AMAZING with her, so I always make a point to praise her for being the best big sister ever and tell her how truly lucky Lawson is. Her sweet face lights up with delight.
