Mom Style Monday | Black Maxi Dress + Weekend Recap August 7, 2017 | Good {Monday} Morning, friends! How was your weekend? We had such a great and relaxing few days…which was needed by all (p.s. I’m sharing a little weekend recap below)! Today we are back with Mom Style Monday and I am so excited to be teaming up with my girls Cristin + Kate again to share some appropriate mom style inspo. We are trying out dropping the theme, just kind of letting each of us post about whatever looks we’ve been rocking that month. What do you think? Today I decided to chat more about this black maxi dress because I think that it’s a great dress to round out Summer in AND a great dress to take you straight through Fall in! In fact, I have 3 great transitional Summer dresses coming up over the next week! Now back to this cute dress! I’ve had it for close to to months now and it’s absolutely my weekend go-to. Whether it’s date night, brunch or just running errands I reach for it non-stop. The top bodice is a really nice jersey fabric, so it’s soft and stretchy. You can adjust the fit with the tie back details, so I just got it really secure and wore wore removable pads and skipped the bra. To transition this dress to cooler temps, simply throw on a denim jacket over it or a lightweight cardigan. There are so many options and this dress will definitely work for you outside of the summer. You can also easily dress it up with a wedge heel! Other great black maxi dress options HERE. I’m loving the cat eye sunglasses trend that’s coming back. It’s such a cool retro look without feeling over the top. Shop all of the best cat-eye sunnies HERE. I had planned it all week and only surprised her with the news the night before that she was going to see Kidz Bop! Dan was home early so that we could leave a full hour before the show started (which we did). I swear, it took us OVER an hour to just get within a mile of the venue, a drive that should have taken 20 minutes max. The traffic was horrible and there were lots of feisty mamas trying to get their kids to the show on time. Needless to say, we got into the place about 45 minutes late and the only thing concerning Landry was the snack that I promised her. 30 minutes later (I kid you not), we had Peanut M&M’s in hand and finally headed to out seats. I’ve never seen so many people crowded in this venue before…it was insane. Imagine the best, most sold out show that you went to in college and all of the drunk people having a blast that accompanied it….well, replace the drunk adults with kids under 10 hyped up on way too much sugar and that was what it was like in there. Whew, it was lots of energy. Thankfully we caught 4 good songs before they were wrapping up, but it was still fun to see her sweet face amazed by the music and dancing. My Dress (coming to the blog on Thursday) | My Bag | Similar Necklace | Landry’s Hat (that she stole from me) | Landry’s Dress Saturday our sweet neighbor took Landry to a Lion King play at our local JCC and she loved it! Dan and I took Lawson on a few quick errands and we both agreed that it felt SO crazy to only have one kiddo in tow. Funny how you adjust to new normals so quickly. After that one of my long-time Insta buddies invited us out to her and her husbands new venture for a preview of their new put put golf course here in Charlotte. Dan and I are ALWAYS looking for fun things to take Landry to do on the weekends and, truly, Charlotte is still very much lacking in that department. We had an absolute blast and Landry discovered her new love of golf…and I was too busy videoing the hilarity (hopefully you caught Instastories) to remember to take pics! We will definitely be back within the next few weeks, she’s already asking about it. It will be such a fun place for you fellow Charlotte peeps to meet friends for a fun night out with the kids or even host birthday parties, etc! Sunday we took the girls to the park and Lawson got to try out the swing for the first time. No worries, we were hovering over her like hawks just in case…but she LOVED it. I can already tell that she wants to do ANYthing that Landry does and this was no different. I think that it’s hilarious that I have kids who love to swing and the sheer thought of swinging can make me nauseous. And Landry’s outfit. I just can’t handle her little personality right now…I want to bottle it up. Last night we made the most delicious Whole30 steak cabobs! They were filling and full of flavor. I’ll share the recipe soon! Now, check out what my other Mom Style Monday gals are up to and what they are wearing this week! Want more Mom Style Inspo? See THESE POSTS.
Brynn at The Domestic Dietitian says August 7, 2017 at 1:48 PM I am in love with this dress! I had a plain maxi dress that I wore over the weekend and just felt so frumpy in it since it’s so basic and shapeless. The back detail on this dress is fantastic and perfect for taking a ho-hum summer staple to a chic little number that is still appropriate for mom-duty. Love it!
