One Room Challenge: Master Bedroom | Week Three October 21, 2015 | Well, friends….here we are at Week 3 of our Master Bedroom Makeover One Room Challenge! I feel like I normally panic in Week 4, but this time the full blown freak out is happening this week. Linda, is this normal??? Remember, last week I told you guys that I would be gone all week and likely wouldn’t get much accomplished? Welp, I was right. Eeeek. In case you are new to the One Room Challenge…we all say 6 weeks, but let’s be clear, it’s 5 weeks at best considering styling, photographing and composing the post in time for the Week 6 reveal. Can you see why I’m a little nervous now? Catch up here: Week One | Read about my plans Week Two | Read about my paint dilemma First, thank you guys for all of your paint suggestions from last week. I’m feeling much better about my life knowing that I’m not the only wack-a-doo looking for the “perfect powdery blue with a subtle green undertone.” Consider the challenge accepted and I am off to gather samples tomorrow! Painter is coming next week, so I will have the weekend to decide and should have a major update for you next week. Sharing some odds and ends updates this week and some amazing accessories that you will see styled for the reveal. I selected these gorgeous Hollywood Glam gourd lamps from Bassett Mirror Company for each side of the bed (on top of our Campaign Chests). I think that their beautiful lines and gorgeous acrylic bases will be perfect in the room and add some glam just like their name says. Next, I chose this gorgeous full length mirror (also from Bassett Mirror Company) for a far wall of our room (an angle I haven’t shown you yet). We haven’t had a full length mirror in our room, simply because I couldn’t find one that I loved. When I saw this one it was absolute love at first sight…I adore the lines and the gold finish and the whopping 52′ height. It’s the absolute best fit for the space. Have you guys explored Bassett Mirror Company? Woah Beautiful! They offer furniture, mirrors, lamps, artwork and clocks. I thought that they had such a broad selection, suitable for any taste. From lucite, to brass, to chinoiserie, to coastal….they truly had something for every style. Also can we talk about their “Hospitality Cabinets?” Like a bar cart, but a beautiful enclosed cabinet to store all of your entertaining necessities. Check this one out…on a scale of 1 to 10 I need this like a 12. Now, let’s talk drapes. Something we have yet to discuss. I tossed and turned about what to do here, so let me tell you about my internal dilemma. My first thought for the overall glam/neutral/calming feel of the room was dupioni. I don’t care what anyone says, I love a good silk drape. The sheen and slight texture feels romantic and dressy in the right space. My struggle was that I needed a true white drape and not an off-white or ivory since the bedding was so stark. I don’t love white silk. So scratch silk. Then I thought about bringing in a pattern here, but since I am not 100% on the wall color just yet, I didn’t want to choose a fabric until the wall color was chosen and, well, it would be too late to order fabric by then. So scratch a pattern. Then I just went back to a beautifully made white linen drape. No need to match to the wall color, will add more brightness to the room (which is great), will be perfect with the bedding and is an investment that I am willing to make since I know that there will always be a place for beautiful white drapes in my home. ((cue the harps!)) Here’s some inspiration as to how I see them in the space. Image Via My friends at New South Home came to the rescue again and will be my drapery fairy godmothers! Remember how they came through with these beauties from my last One Room Challenge?? We went with floor to ceiling white linen drapes with gorgeous goblet pleats and I cannot wait to get them in! If you need affordable custom drapery…I promise no one beats New South Home, truly their prices compete with Pottery Barn for custom pieces! Next on to drapery hardware. I’ve been dying for an excuse to DIY lucite rods and NOW’S THE TIME!!! Eeeeeek! I’ve been drooling over these for years now and never had “the space” to hang them and I feel like if this isn’t the room, then nothing will be. They are so glam and modern and I love the way that they add that extra element of “wow” to a room. I’ve been researching DIY options and I think that I’ve settled on Kristin’s (Hunted Interior) DIY. She adapted Grace’s (A Storied Style) original tutorial and put a great spin on it. I love how she used acrylic shower hooks (which is a major money saver) and I actually really like the way it looks. I ordered mine from Target for a whopping $2.50 for 20 hooks…keep in mind 20 brass hooks could be up to $100! See a peek of her finished product below and head over to see the full tutorial. I’ll show you guys how mine came out in Week 5! Image via Here’s the updated punch list: New bedding…ivory, piping and monograms New headboard…something with some structure New nightstands…I really like the ones we have already, but found even better ones! New Lamps…adding some glam here New mirrors for over the night stands…If you hunt back on Instagram you’ll get a sneak peek of these Art above the bed….You’re going to like this! New Chandelier…one shown in the board is the one I’m using. McDreamy. Paint the room…going for light and bright with a hint of greenish blue underneath. Suggestions welcome! The swatch in the board is SW Seasalt and I would use it at 50% Sell tallboy dresser and come up with a replacement piece…Might even make my husband the happiest man alive an plan for a flat screen there. We currently don’t have a TV in our room…what are your thoughts? Benches for front of the bed? Long Mirror? You’ll like this one! Carpet? Drapes? Hardware? sherry hart says October 22, 2015 at 11:35 AM I am hanging some curtains for a client today using brass and lucite…my first time! Pretty excited to see them go up. I never thought of using the lucite shower curtain rings but what a savings. The rings are the most expensive part of the hardware! Can’t wait to see your project come to life:)
