Let's Talk Formal Gowns | Style Your Senses

So a friend of mine mentioned a post about formal gowns, as she was striking out when trying to find the perfect dress for a special occasion. To be honest, I haven’t had to shop for a formal gown in quite some time (the last formal event I attended was big and pregnant and that was just a disaster) and thank goodness because the selection is painful! On my hunt for a semi-affordable formal gown I was shocked at how many matronly, mother-of-the-bride-ish, unflattering silhouettes were out there…thanks but no thanks on the matching jacket. Let’s pretend like we don’t know ~~because we can’t afford them anyway~~ of Mr. de La Renta, Mr. Khan, or Mr. Woo. So here’s the deal, if I’m going to drop $300-$500 on a formal gown (that’s what I would realistically expect to pay) it better be:

1. Versatile and can be worn again.

2. Figure flattering

3. Sophisticated, but not boring…just a hint of trendy
