One Room Challenge: Week 5! October 30, 2014 | Welp, here we are at Week FIVE of the One Room Challenge. I was feeling really good about the whole she-bang…until this week….and now I feel like I might drown. There are SO many things left on the punch list (along with a jam packed week ahead) and I literally feel as though I might need a caffeine IV to get through it. The huge accomplishment this week was hanging my beautiful paper from Wallternatives. Catch up on the other weeks here: Week One // Week Two // Week 3 // Week 4 ** please excuse the lackluster photos…I am working in a room that gets ZERO natural light and I also had to take down the sconces that were the only light source in the room…so working with a fluorescent spotlight it is. You guys loved this one on Instagram! So, to be completely honest, I had never hung wallpaper before. It scares me. But for some reason the thought of working with such a high quality removable paper did not intimidate me at all. Once I made sure the wall was clean…I went for it. The wallpaper is made of a premium polyester material and can literally be used over and over again. While the pattern looks hard, the matches were perfect and went together flawlessly. I was even able to line it up and focus on the center, while not having to trim the outer edges until it was positioned perfectly. This was a HUGE help, as it allowed me to focus on the matching and level-ness of the paper instead of the edging. The material does not peel, rip or wrinkle, and even if the adhesive side folds on itself it can be pulled apart with ease (and yes, this is true…it happened to me multiple times….and sure enough it pulled right apart! I was shocked). On a side note, we had out first encounter with removing a sink and caulking (below), that was interesting…but surprisingly easy. #nowwehavetoputitbackon Overall my 9ft wall took 4 full sheets and 2 small sections of other sheets. Look how beautifully it lined up. Below you are able to see how I hung it without getting the exact edges trimmed before hanging. This way I was able to get the measurements perfect and trim the edges with a razor. It even folded right into a corner….making for a very clean edge. Easy-peasy! These puppies should be here by Friday….amazing, right?! I’m dying to get my paws on them. Sarah, from Lucent Lightshop has been incredible to work with! I also picked up the hand towels from the monogrammer…yay! I’ll post a sneak of those on Insta today. On the other hand, I need major help with art…which I am incredibly before on 🙁 So just for giggles, here’s the punch list: -re-install and re-caulk sink -re-install towel bars (my vintage was sold when I went back…tear) -replace switch place. Remember these how yummy?! can’t wait -put a second coat of paint on and hang mirror -install lights -hang art work ….are you laughing yet? I sure am as I type. Wish us luck! Now be sure to head over to the Linking Party to check out everyone’s progress!
